Based on data collected through a self-assessment survey method of 725 college students in Vietnam, the results of the structural equation modeling analysis show that emotional intelligence has a positive impact on cognitive subjective well-being. Simultaneously, self-esteem was found to partially mediate the relationship between emotional intelligence and cognitive subjective well-being. In addition, the results also show that there is a difference in cognitive subjective well-being by family type while there is no difference in cognitive subjective well-being by gender, school year and order of children in the family. From the results, the study is expected to contribute some recommendations for policy makers to improve college students' mental health.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124493196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the potential for a unique and engaging approach to science education lies beneath the surface of these captivating stories. This paper explores the use of fairy tales as a pedagogical tool in physics education. By integrating scientific concepts into the fabric of well-known fairy tales, educators can leverage the power of storytelling to ignite curiosity, promote critical thinking, and enhance understanding of complex physics principles. This interdisciplinary approach bridges the gap between the fantastical and the factual, fostering a deeper appreciation for scientific inquiry and encouraging students to participate actively in their learning journey.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130220886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted in three education zones in Sri Lanka which represent the diverse socio-cultural and economic conditions of the country. Online interviews were conducted with twenty-four social science teachers teaching in junior secondary classes. The results revealed that (i) teachers are facing challenges in accessing ICT resources; (ii) they have issues in skill development related to ICT; (iii) there were disparities in the availability of ICT resources among schools and (iv) there was difference in the quality of ICT infrastructure among schools. Further, the study found that teachers are facing some barriers while using ICT in the teaching-learning process such as inadequate ICT resources, rigid rules and regulations in the school administration, absence of transition time between periods in the school timetable and non-availability of facilities to repair and maintain the computers. The study suggests that appropriate actions should be undertaken by educational policymakers and other relevant personnel to address this issue in the school system.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131606428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To self-represent is an empowerment option for the student who would rather ward off arbitrary identity attribution judgements. Given the critical role played by the EFL classroom as host to a complicated network of cultural backgrounds, identity acknowledgment does not have to be solely commensurate with curriculum-related obligation disclosures in an ELT context. The following ethnography in TEFL was conducted at a Greek High School in a town of a border island with the object of observing how languaculture interferes with peer interaction. The EFL teacher-inquirer via walk-through observation monitored how students negotiated their linguistic profile in conformance with Trompenaars’ five-dimension cultural framework. The outcomes show that interactants created what they perceived as a “third space” where a choir of voices laid the foundations for the rapprochement of different cultures.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125477330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This correlation addresses a core tenet of the three learning domains, Cognitive, Affective, and Psycho-Motor where all three constitute separate areas of one single learning process. And as such, one would expect to be able to measure this correspondence between the three domains. This study attempts to test the hypothesis of a correlation between the cognitive and affective domains in a cohort of in-service science teachers. Specifically, we seek to assess whether the affective posture towards school sciences shows an association with their cognitive competence in biology, chemistry and physics. We used partial least square regression analysis to examine the data, and the results indicate a direct correlation between the affective and cognitive domains. Teachers who scored higher in cognitive tests for the three sciences also had a more positive attitude towards them. These findings provide strong empirical evidence in support of the theoretical principle that the three domains are separate but interconnected components of the educational process.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123791014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While traditional learning theories seem insufficient to explain how technology and the proliferation of information could be manipulated for effective learning, Connectivism theory emerged to salvage this insufficiency. Different countries around the globe are also occupied with reforming their curriculums to address contemporary issues. The study, informed by technology adoption model, deployed qualitative content analysis to investigate the degree of alignment between connectivism theory and Lesotho’s integrated curriculum for effective learning in the digital age. Document analysis was used to analyse the pedagogy section in CAP in order to identify principles and objectives that overlap with the major principles of connectivism. The findings indicated that to a large extent, connectivism and Lesotho’s integrated curriculum principles overlap. However, Lesotho’s integrated curriculum shrinks in explicitly guiding how technological skills could be promoted. It was therefore recommended that technology and digital tools should be integrated into the curriculum to enable students to engage in networked learning. In addition, there should be training of both teachers and students on ICT and network learning environments to enhance students’ learning.","PeriodicalId":162221,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Education and Pedagogy","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132128519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
