It is known that studies continue to minimize the damage to the environment with alternative energy generation methods. Recently, it is seen that generating electrical energy using solar energy, known as clean energy, has an important place. With the developing semiconductor technologies, the use of photovoltaic systems is increasing day by day. The aim of this study is to estimate the amount of energy that will be produced by simulating and modeling the performance of PV (Photovoltaic) systems using PVsyst and PV*SOL programs before the Photovoltaic systems are installed in the region. In the study, grid-connected roof system modeling was made in Bakırköy district of Istanbul province. In the modeling of the system, a total of 90 solar panels were placed on an area of 114.9 m 2 , in East and West directions. In total, it is predicted that 17.1 kW of energy will be obtained when the system is used. In the system design, the avoided CO₂ emission is calculated as 8,856 kg/year and the amortization period is calculated as 7.2 years. When the programs are used, the analysis of the system is made before the implementation and it is seen that time and cost savings are achieved.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122387676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The flight trajectory is selected from Erzincan Yıldırım Akbulut Airport to Ankara Esenboğa Airport and that trajectory is a frequently performed domestic flight between Erzincan and Ankara. Integrated Aircraft Noise and Emissions Modelling Platform (IMPACT) developed by EUROCONTROL is used for the calculation of fuel burn, CO2, H2O, and other gas emissions (NOx, SOx, CO, HC, soot, and other trace compounds) for the per phase of flight. These emissions have an impact on human health, air quality, and the ecosystem, and cause air pollution, climate change, and global warming worldwide. Commercial air-transport-based simulations are created for regional jet and narrow-body passenger aircraft. According to the results, flying with regional jets which have lower MTOW from/to airports such as Erzincan Yıldırım Akbulut Airport, where the passenger density per aircraft is low, provides advantages in terms of fuel burn and emissions. It is expected that this study will serve as a guide for airline operators for fleet selection based on fuel burn and emission parameters.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124190124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the coordinates of the NACA 1412 and NACA 2415 sections selected from the standard wing sections of the National Aviation Advisory Committee (NACA) have been implemented with specific procedures to create new geometries and a new wing profile design using the coordinate method. The wing profile geometry is created from the coordinates available in the literature. Fixed two-dimensional viscous flows around the generated wing profiles are simulated using commercially available ANSYS-Fluent software. The mesh structure used was created using the C type and rectangular structure. CFD and wind tunnel analysis of attack angles ranging from certain degrees. The aerodynamic coefficients of the related statuses, i.e. the lift and drag coefficients obtained from the analysis, have been compared with the wind tunnel test results. Aerodynamic research in recent years focuses on active flow control concepts, laminar flow control, fuel economy and higher transport/drag force ratio. This is designed to understand and analyze flow behavior around airfoils using the CFD method.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133604426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

NOM (natural organic matter), which is ubiquitous in natural aquatic environments, can inhibit arsenic adsorption by competing with arsenic for adsorbent surface sites. The main objectives of this study were to investigate the competitive adsorption between NOM and arsenic using low-cost adsorbents. For this purpose, batch adsorption experiments were carried out in synthetic and natural water using pumice, steel slag and red mud as low cost adsorbents.The highest arsenic removal efficiencies obtained with steel slag, pumice and red mud were 95, 95 and 50 %, respectively without the presence of NOM. The results showed that the presence of NOM caused a significant reduction in arsenic adsorption for all tested adsorbents and 20-30% less arsenic removal efficiency was obtained in natural water compared to the removal efficiencies obtained in synthetic water. The maximum adsorption capacities obtained in synthetic water with all tested adsorbents vary between 1.6 -3.05 mgAs/g, while the maximum adsorption capacities obtained in natural water vary between 0.9-1.2 mgAs/g. All these findings indicate that NOM can hinder the uptake of arsenic by all tested adsorbents. Moreover, the arsenic adsorption in natural water were modelled by Langmuir, Freundlich and modified Freundlich. The results showed that the arsenic adsorption data were well fitted by modified Freundlich isotherm with R2 values between 0.87 and 0.90.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133529778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Load balance based on pricing in electrical power systems; It is a strategy that takes into account customer demands, enables customers to use electrical energy at the most attractive price, and provides suppliers with the desired profit, that is, in summary, it coordinates the efficient operation of energy systems. In this study; While load balance is created with smart grid technology, demand-supply-price balance is achieved by using an optimum Fuzzy Logic PI controller within a closed-loop electric power control system model. Within the scope of the study, the simulation results obtained by applying 6 different demand scenarios to the power system model consisting of different types of generation resources were given graphically and analyzed. The different demand scenarios applied include difficult demand conditions such as possible sudden increase or decreases in demand in the electrical power system.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133531881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to this, power plants are established for the production of high power electricity and the energy produced is given to the grid. However, in a region far from the urban area, electrical energy can be produced at small power levels. Radial flux permanent magnet alternators are the most widely used to generate electrical energy at small powers. Therefore, in this study, the effect on the efficiency of the materials used in radial flux permanent magnet alternators was investigated. Time savings can be achieved by analyzing the alternators used for the energy to be produced. The analyzes taken from the program contribute to the studies and may cause small deviations in real applications. In our study, considering the B-H characteristics of ferromagnetic materials, the effects of variable stator, rotor and magnet materials on the output performance were examined and comparisons were made by choosing the configuration with the best efficiency as a result of the optimization made. According to the graphical results obtained, time and cost savings were achieved.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124874033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, fossil fuel reserves are facing depletion in the near future, and energy supply also has an important dimension such as national security and foreign dependency. All these show that turning to renewable energy sources and developing solutions and policies for energy saving has become a necessity both globally and locally. For such reasons, modeling of urban structures, which have a great contribution to energy consumption, and simulating the energy demand on an urban scale are of great importance for the effective use of energy. Research on this has shown that UBEM (Urban Building Energy Modeling) is an effective solution to these problems. However, UBEM contains different technical problems for implementation. Due to its versatility, various concepts related to this field lead to complexity. With this increasing complexity, there is a growing need to compile concepts from a holistic perspective. In this study, it is aimed to create a solution to these challenges. For this purpose, a comprehensive and up-to-date research of various modeling approaches and model creation process used in urban building energy modeling has been conducted. Studies on these approaches are summarized and a systematic review of the literature is made. At the same time, the study is in the nature of guiding and forming the general knowledge level with the basic concepts that should be known to those who will work on UBEM.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117271569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The output of solar photovoltaic system can be improved by means of solar tracking system either mechanically or electrically. The modules of solar PV system are oriented so as to harness maximum solar irradiance from the sunlight. The performance of solar modules depends on the temperature of the solar modules. This present work deals with simulation of a solar PV module using Scilab Xcos software at different setups and operating conditions to give I-V and P-V curves. The results of the simulations show that a PV array that were modeled and simulated for variable solar irradiance maximum of one sun (700W/m2 to 1000W/m2) and constant temperature 250C, this increase in irradiance therefore lead to increase in current with the voltage remained relatively constant throughout the irradiance range.","PeriodicalId":159867,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Energy Studies","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133459501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
