Abstract
Solar energy is among the source of energy that is reliable, available and non-harmful to the society. The output of solar photovoltaic system can be improved by means of solar tracking system either mechanically or electrically. The modules of solar PV system are oriented so as to harness maximum solar irradiance from the sunlight. The performance of solar modules depends on the temperature of the solar modules. This present work deals with simulation of a solar PV module using Scilab Xcos software at different setups and operating conditions to give I-V and P-V curves. The results of the simulations show that a PV array that were modeled and simulated for variable solar irradiance maximum of one sun (700W/m2 to 1000W/m2) and constant temperature 250C, this increase in irradiance therefore lead to increase in current with the voltage remained relatively constant throughout the irradiance range.
