It provides gyroscopic stability against the external disturbance torque. Typically, the bias momentum satellite use momentum wheel and thruster for actuator and star tracker or pairs of horizon and a sun sensor to determine the direction of angular momentum. This paper proposes an effective technique to control the angular momentum of Lapan-Tubsat satellite using wheels and magnetic coil for actuator and overcome the limitations of the spacecraft that has no on-board horizon sensor and magnetometer that usually used to measure the magnetic field. The determination of angular momentum direction use video camera instead a horizon sensor even though it is available once per 24 hours of ground station contact. This idea is effective if only the disturbance torque and the angular momentum has been characterized and established. After the video camera gives attitude information the satellite operator tries to control the direction of angular momentum by over or under-compensate the disturbance torque using magnetic coil. On Lapan-Tubsat, the disturbance torque level is in the order of 10-5 Nm, i.e. 10% of the maximum coil torque.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131825043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wireless Sensor Network using many wireless communication protocols, such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, ultra wideband, and WiFi. WiFi has many advantages, i.e high data rate and long range distances, but it requires a high power. ZigBee uses less power, but it offers low data rate and short range distances. This paper presents the application of ZigBee and WiFi networks for microclimate monitoring. Data of air temperature and humidity are collected using ZigBee-WSN and then the data are transmitted from the observed area to the monitoring center using WiFi transceiver. Air temperature sensors have average error 1.9% and humidity sensors have average error 3.8%. This system needs ZigBee - WiFi interface that convert the data format from ZigBee protocol into TCP/IP protocol. Maximum distance communication of ZigBee protocol is ± 200m in the outdoor area with many obstacles. The interface system can communicate properly when the baud rate is 9600bps.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124116235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a mathematical model to estimate the relative distance from the UAV's camera to an obstacle which will subsequently be used in a collision avoidance algorithm. We validate our model with some real time experiments under both stationary and dynamic motion of the UAV during its flight. The results show good agreement with the ground truth values with an acceptable percentage of error in estimation under 3% thus proving it can facilitate obstacle detection and avoidance for low cost and lightweight UAVs.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115900799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly the low resolution image is interpolated by using bicubic interpolation and then decomposed into different subband images by SWT. Each subband is decimated to four lower low resolution images. The four low resolution images are interpolated and registered by using bicubic interpolation and IBP respectively. Inverse SWT (ISWT) is used to generate a Super-resolved output image. The proposed interpolation technique has been tested on several remote sensing images. The quantitative PSNR and SSIM results as well as the visual results show the superiority of the proposed interpolation technique over the other interpolation and image resolution enhancement techniques. For one of the images the PSNR of the proposed method has achieved 3.84dB, 2.11dB, and 1.1dB more improvements than bicubic interpolation, Irani and Peleg technique, and Wavlet Zero Padding technique respectively.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"74 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128046117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on several space projects, we have developed an optimal mission-critical visual sensor communications solution for low-bandwidth mobile or satellite networks. It is also applicable live images from UAVs, and for providing hi-resolution satellite imagery details to field users using mobile satellite networks. In this paper we present a modified full-state linear ESO as an augmentation of a baseline attitude tracking controller for a hexacopter. The baseline controller is designed using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion with relative degree 2. By feeding back the estimated modeling error from the ESO, the performance as well as the robustness of the overall control system is significantly improved. These capabilities are demonstrated in outdoor flight tests with a hexacopter, where controlled flight is achieved even under severe actuator degradation. Due to the linear structure of the presented ESO, this might be an alternative to adaptive controllers in view of certification issues.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125694651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Missions where the pilot has to operate a payload require an automatic flight control system (AFCS) to support the pilot. In missions that are extremely difficult, long or dangerous, the AFCS may even replace the pilot. Such an AFCS has to follow precisely predefined trajectories and should compensate disturbances due to atmospheric turbulence. For un-manned aircraft operations it has to have full authority, it has to be highly reliable, and it must be able to take off and land automatically. The development and certification of such an AFCS at competitive cost is a major challenge. This paper gives an overview on the STEMME S15 utility aircraft, for which an AFCS has been developed. It describes the design objectives, the selected flight control architecture, the system, and the flight test equipment as well as flight test results that demonstrate the high precision of flight path control.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"55 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114012363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What is required is around-the-clock local and wide-area surveillance and remote sensing of the vegetative cover for which hitherto well designed optical equatorial orbiting satellite sensors had been developed but their successful implementation is failing ever more because of the ever increasing cloud, precipitation, humidity and increasing aerosol cover within the entire equatorial belt of +/- 15°-20° latitude rendering penetration at optical wavelength mostly ineffective. Hence, recourse must be taken of active microwave sensing, and implementing radar and synthetic aperture sensors from air and space operational at day & night and which are mainly independent of weather: The sensors especially suited are the fully polarimetric POL-SAR sensors developed for satellite remote sensing by the major SAR technology development centres worldwide. The challenge is thus to develop equatorial orbiting SAR, preferably wide-swath POL-SAR satellite sensors, within the desirable P/L/S/C/X/Ka multi-bands by implementing novel beam-steering radar for wide-swath high-resolution coverage. Therefore, we need to mobilize and draw full responsible attention of the main SAR Development Centres and its Supporting Organizations worldwide in order for realizing the challenging proposal.","PeriodicalId":159808,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology","volume":"320 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122804048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
