Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is among the widely used additive manufacturing technology to fabricate quality products with effective expenses. This investigation considered significant methodological parameters: layer layouts/ patterns (triangular and rectilinear), wall thickness (1.2,3.6,6) and infilled density (70, 85 and 100%) analyzed to check out right into their results on compression and impact mechanical behaviors of 3D-printed Poly Lactic Acid pulse (PLA+), utilizing FDM 3D printing machine. The Central Composite Face-centered (CCF)technique was conducted to design an optimal number of experiments. The compression and impact tests were applied according to ASTM guidelines. The results showed that the Rectilinear samples were mechanically weaker than the Triangle samples, as the samples with 1.2 mm outer wall and 70% or 85% infill collapsed abruptly. The outer wall thickness was the most effective parameter for all samples, as the triangle sample with 6 mm walls and 85% infill had the","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139325615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This systematic review aims to explore the most popular topics within LSS in manufacturing over the past ten years (2014 to 2023), and to identify and analyze any gaps. Results found that LSS helps in improving quality, increasing sigma level, reducing non-added value, increasing productivity, reducing production costs, and improving customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the results can be used for a systematic literature review by researchers and manufacturing leaders before embarking on a journey of continuous improvement. Finally, this study proposed a LSS framework for the manufacturing domain, which includes 40 steps. Various tools like process mapping, KPIs, OEE, sigma level, seven quality control tools, process time analysis, value stream mapping, kaizen, 5S, brainstorming, and standard work have been used at different phases of DMAIC.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"323 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139326930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tested panel consists of a timber frame with the dimensions of 1200 x 600 x 25 mm covered by GFRP layers which were manufactured by a hand-layup process. Tensile and flexure tests were conducted for the GFRP specimens and for GFRP-covered wood sections to evaluate the material properties. The results showed brittle failure under average maximum load of 9.28 kN, average maximum elongation of 7.7 mm and the modulus of elasticity for the GFRP was about 2400 MPa. The obtained bending stress for GFRP-covered wood sections ranged between 90-115 MPa. Additionally, full-scale panels were tested under distributed loads until failure to study their flexural behavior. The experimental results demonstrated good mechanical and physical properties for the presented GFRP-wood panels, which renders the use of such composite GFRP-wood panel promising in prefabricated structures.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139330113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A PV/Thermal system is used as a result to raise the output power of the PV modules by decreasing their temperatures. This work includes numerical and experimental outputs, a comparison between the electro-thermal behaviours of water and different percentages of AL 2 O 3 Nano-water (0.001 & 0.01) pass through a new back pipe structure (pancake) installed under the PV module is presented. Comsol Multiphysics and MATLAB simulators are utilized to apply the model. The experimental work runs for both Nanoparticle concentrations compared with water. The pumping power consumption is approximately 1% from the average output power of the system. The thermal results for 0.01 %wt of AL2O3 Nano-water show that the PV module temperature decreased about 14.04 % and 8.8 % compared with water and 0.001 %wt Alumina, respectively. In addition, the difference in water temperature is increased by about 21.6 % and 6.7 % for two different concentrations compared with water. That leads to enhancement in the module’s daily output power up to 14.6 % by using 0.01 wt% AL2O3 Nano fluid compared with cooling water.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"255 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139331460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents numerical modeling through nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) of reinforced geopolymer concrete beams as well as an analytical study. The numerical modeling and nonlinear analysis are performed using commercial software ANSYS, made for previously tested geopolymer concrete (GC) beams with main reinforcement bars of steel and glass fiber reinforced polymers (GFRP), and contains two types of dispersed fibers: steel and polypropylene fibers. The numerical results are presented and compared with the published experimental findings. A reasonable correlation between numerical and experimental results is observed, thus validating the efficiency of the modeling methodology for analyzing and designing geopolymer concrete c elements .","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"187 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139325488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lightweight concrete has many and diverse utilizations, including multistory building frames and floors, curtain walls and bridges. This paper investigated the effect of fiber on torsional behavior of lightweight concrete beam. Many variables were studied such as compressive strength of lightweight concrete, fiber type, fiber volume ratio, spacing between stirrups, diameter of stirrups and CFRP reinforcement. The numerical results showed that the increment in fiber content resulted in better mechanical properties and torsional resistance of lightweight concrete beams. The effect of carbon fiber and steel fiber is evident from the volume ratio 2%, which produced the highest ultimate torque enhancement to 77.64% and 76 % respectively. In addition, a rational approach is proposed to predict ultimate torque to develop the torsion design of lightweight concrete beams.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139330572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
