These high temperature regions appear as a result of the salt recirculation of the liquid fuel. This problem causes a decrease in the delayed neutron fraction value β eff. . This decrease in β eff. reduces the safety of the reactor because it shifts it more close to the prompt critical state. The new modification depends on distributing the flow between the side and the centre by adding a coolant circuit passes through the core centre from the bottom to the top. At the end of this study we see that this new design moderated the hot spots and reduced the maximum temperature to about 1120 k. This value is greater than the core outlet temperature by about 77 k and smaller than the maximum temperature of the benchmark design by about 160 k. The design also reduced the salt velocity from the benchmark value 3.9 m/s to the value 2.38 m/s.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139326718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is commonly used additive manufacturing technology. Mechanical and physical characteristics could be enhanced by checking out several FDM parameters as well as using brand new substances over this technology. This study analyzed the impact and compression strengths of Poly Lactic Acid/Carbon Fiber composites (CF/PLA). The research considered important methodological aspects: the effects of layer patterns (triangular and rectilinear), wall thickness and infilled density on compression and impact mechanical properties of 3D-printed PLA carbon-fibre samples, using an FDM 3D printing machine. The results showed that triangle samples have more mechanical stability and do not collapse suddenly, compared to rectilinear samples. This collapse was observed in the rectilinear samples with 1.2 mm of outer wall thickness and 70% or 85% of infill percentages, while the rectilinear samples showed the highest mechanical performance. The infill density is the most important parameter for all rectilinear samples, as the lowest impact strength of 0.20 kJ/m2 was recorded for a sample with 70% infill and 6 mm wall thickness.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139326986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The provision of school buildings in slums or unplanned urban areas presents many challenges. These include overpopulation and smaller plots of land remaining for services. However, it is necessary to understand the needs of marginalized groups, and to provide them with a minimum level of community services, especially educational services which are the most important element of community development. The study highlights the difficulties facing the provision of school buildings in these areas, especially with the small size and scarcity of land, it explores the features of compact design as a flexible and effective tool in adapting school buildings to small plots of land and enables the architectural designer to provide spaces such as schoolyards and playgrounds. The study presents a design model for a compact educational building, then actual site models are developed from the study area, and the results of the hypothetical application are analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the results and to find the appropriate recommendations. This contributes to finding suitable alternatives to provide educational buildings in those areas in a manner appropriate to the current conditions while developing flexible requirements in determining the suitability of the site for building schools, to make the most of small plots of land in the future.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"86 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139328413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They also provide habitat for many species and contribute to economic wealth. This study involves an extensive survey of firefighters regarding the current issues facing their field of work and potential technology solutions. It also assesses the efforts made by the academy and businesses to use a variety of robot types for firefighting operations. The recommended technique consists of a few octa-copters that can not only visit waypoints and transport shipments on their own but can also carry out duties like monitoring, mapping, and observation. The three established operator positions task commanding officer, team leaders, and team members each have a unique information access role and mission-related duties. By designing patient rooms that facilitate healing and recovery, or layouts that limit the risk of infection transmission, EBD can help reduce medical errors, infections, and falls in healthcare facilities. One effective way to improve healthcare facilities is through post-occupancy evaluations. These evaluations identify areas for improvement and create more efficient systems that reduce costs, improve patient satisfaction, and enhance the quality of care. By applying evidence-based design principles and evaluations, emergency department operations can become more effective and efficient. The problem with the research is that design criteria are important for hospital efficiency, but emergency departments are sometimes overlooked. Architects must balance patient needs with client satisfaction and cost minimization, which can lead to ED overcrowding due to financing strategies and increasing demand. The research methodology adopted a theoretical review of literature and codes, an analytical study of EBD strategies and tools, and a future quantitative assessment through an applied study and staff interviews.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139325088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the study is to identify the most significant factors that contribute to the increasing cost of sustainable projects. The study assesses the factors that increase the cost of implementing health, safety, and environmental management standards in sustainable construction projects as compared to traditional projects. Toward this end, a field survey was conducted on a sample of 53 selected projects in a specific geographical area with a high intensity of construction work. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using a tabulated presentation that determined the percentages of responses given. The study's findings indicate that selecting HSE managers with more experience, increasing scaffolding security and specialized training and using more personal protection equipment in sustainable projects are some of the most significant variables causing cost increases. The findings show that improved HSE regulations are needed for the Egyptian construction sector, especially in traditional projects. To attain cost effectiveness, HSE issues must be recognized and integrated early in the project cycle. On sustainable Egyptian projects, the client, consultant, and contractor must collaborate to enhance health, safety, and the environment.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139326123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The KENO (one of the SCALE package) code was used at the beginning to calculate the multiplication factor K eff for the benchmark design. After that, the TRITON (one of the SCALE package) was used to find the nuclear constants for the different regions of this design. These nuclear constants were used in the multi-physics code COMSOL to model the reactor and calculate the neutron flux Eigen values of the neutron diffusion equation and then calculate the multiplication factor K eff and get the neutron flux distribution. This distribution was used to make a coupling between the neutronic and the thermal hydraulic of the reactor. The nuclear codes MCNP5 and WIMS were also used in modelling this reactor to calculate K eff . The study showed the differences between the multiplication factor values from each code and compared them by the values from old reference studies and reflected the effect of the selection of the data libraries and the code on the results. It showed also the thermal hydraulic results for the benchmark as modelled by COMSOL.","PeriodicalId":159365,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal (Shoubra)","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139327375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
