This is written in HyperCard and uses various animation programs. The novelty of the package lies in the animation of electrical circuits to show step by step the functioning of a sequential control circuit. This is also linked to animations of the mechanical systems they control. Students are thus able to observe, as many times as they require, the steps in the operation of such a control system. A description of four control systems interfaced to computers-a flow control system, a level control system, a heated tank control system and a fermenter/batch reactor control system are given. Being versatile controllers and data loggers, the computers also provide a friendly and appealing environment for students to perform experiments on the systems. The different characteristic of each system provides a variety of hands-on experience which incorporates the application of process control and reinforcement of the theories learnt in class. As a result the basic aim of educating those engineers in an organised continuing education programme becomes a failure. Institute of High Voltage and High Current (IVAT) had conducted two short-courses (Electrical Discharges and Electrical Earthing) in the effort to educate practising electrical engineers and multi-media instructions were incorporated to enhance learning. So this paper focuses on various concepts of multi-media instructions in the effort to achieve improvement in learning and understanding of high voltage phenomena. This kind of education is found to be particularly useful to those who live far away from the campus and cannot attend regular classes. However, the main disadvantages of such education is the lack of contact between the teaching staff and students, and group discussion is almost impossible. An experimental multimedia interactive group discussion system will be described. With the students' workstations connected to the network, the tutor can hold a group discussion meeting without requiring the students to travel to the campus. Using the system, the tutor and the students can view any documents together using the shared screen. Furthermore, a voice channel is set up so that verbal discussion can be exchanged between the students and the tutor.
