One of the key features is intra prediction which is based on the rate distortion optimization (RDO) procedure, that requires a true encoding of the intra block by trying all intra prediction modes. The computational burden of intra prediction with the RDO procedure is extremely high for real time applications. In this paper, we propose an efficient directional difference prediction algorithm using the prediction error to reduce the number of coding modes required for the RDO procedure. The proposed DDP algorithm effectively estimates the prediction error of the block to narrow down the predictive modes to reduce RDO computation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves a time reduction of more than 64% with negligible PSNR loss and bitrate increment.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132080621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this approach had been proposed and used on the vehicle. But this approach is limited on a trajectory of the vehicle which moves along with a straight line. If the trajectory of the vehicle moves along with an arc line, the optical flow values will inconsistent in the left side and in the right side of this image which causes mistakes in obstacle detection. So we propose a method to improve this problem which uses the trajectory of vehicle to calculate the center of turning circle. And the center of turning circle can be used to adjust the inconsistent with optical flow values. After our improvement, the optical flow values can keep consistence even if the trajectory is along with an arc line.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115133090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents a low complexity time-domain statistic noise suppression and beam steering algorithm based on binary search strategy to estimate the optimal beam vector at the receivers. The beam steering algorithm based on binary search strategy could achieve closely (about 99%) optimal SNR gain within only two binary search. It is desirable choice to archive the suitable trade-off between the performance and the processing overhead. Hence, it could obtain a near-optimal performance with considerably low complexity and high convergence speed. In addition, this algorithm is well-matched to different specifications.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132299613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Once these images have been stored, the next step is to figure out how to retrieve the desired pictures quickly and accurately from the database. In this paper, we intend to develop an efficient image retrieval algorithm. Using this algorithm, we can retrieve desired images by using similar input sample images. Our research images include vehicles, buildings, flowers and other natural scenes. First, we applied the edge and morphological filter on the grey scale images to refill and extract the largest interesting object from the image. Second, we developed an image retrieval algorithm called Region of Interest (ROI) Motif Co-occurrence Matrix (RMCM) to find the relation of the neighboring pixels on the image. In this algorithm, we need to generate a 2 × 2 pattern called a motif. The main idea of this algorithm is to quickly and accurately find the characteristic values about motif. Finally, we can compare the Euclidean distance of the characteristic values from the motif to locate the most similar image from database. In our develop algorithm we combine the partly area motif and characteristic area center location methods to raise the accuracy and speed of recognition. Using our proposed algorithm RMCM, the mean processing time is about 0.82 seconds per image. This value is faster than using Motif Co-occurrence Matrix (MCM) by about 2.57 times. The accurate recognition rates are about 95% and 87% as related to vehicles and buildings.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133882724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multipath routing is a promising solution because it can improve the channel utilization rate, reduce transmission delay and balance the transmission load. To pursue high efficiency for a multipath routing scheme, we need to take the characteristics of wireless environments and sensor networks into careful considerations. Based on such considerations, this paper introduces a new routing scheme which divides the whole network topology into many districts and simultaneously forwards data through these districts without interfering with each other - to achieve interference-free transmissions. Our scheme will adjust the load of each district according to the energy status of their nodes; it does not establish fixed paths in advance and will hence maintain high performance even when the topology changes rapidly. Simulation results show that, when compared with related routing schemes, our scheme can achieve higher performance at real-time transmission and meanwhile distribute transmission loads more evenly to most of the nodes in the network.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116617458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new algorithm is introduced to calculate the hash value from the number of zero-bit-planes that can be extracted from the JPEG 2000 codestream by only parsing the header information. Furthermore, the proposed method uses hash value, and therefore, the length of the data used for identification is fixed. The processing speed of the proposed method should be fast since a fixed length data is used for the identification. The method avoids estimating an image from the feature because it uses hash value. Moreover, the image data can be encrypted because it uses pre-calculated hash value for identification. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122146811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic idea of energy-saving method is using sleep mechanism. However, if nodes enter sleep state too much, targets may lose easily from the sleeping nodes. It is high consuming the energy to find back these losing targets. Thus, it would notice accuracy of tracing targets when saving energy. In this proposal, it offers a scheme about trace of moving target. It uses cluster scheme and algorithm, which apply different strengths and energy-consuming according to different possibility of losing targets. The possibility of lost is aimed to different acceleration of targets and wake up different number of nodes. Lowering losing rate of target can own energy-saving and improved performance.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126130825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes the control method of the micro inverter derived from the conventional AC-DC boundary conduction mode (BCM) PFC converter. The variable frequency peak-current mode control method and the variable frequency voltage mode control method are proposed for the control of the flyback-based inverter. Modeling of the inverter and quantitative controller design of the variable frequency voltage mode control method is presented. A 120W experimental system with PV module input and 93.9% maximum efficiency is built. A 120W experimental system with PV module for generating power is built. In this paper, the software is designed with C language and hardware is designed with Verilog hardware description language (HDL). The HW/SW co-design method is a technique based on a SOPC (System on a Programmable Chip). In this paper, the path selecting and path analysis are designed in SOPC. The path selecting belongs to the pre-processing of the ACO algorithm and it cost a longer computing processing time. Therefore, a hardware circuit is designed to speed up processing. The path analysis will be designed by the C language within the NIOS II processor. In the experimental results, the processing time can be reduced by the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124001088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The upper bound approach gives better estimation of error performance in high signal-to-noise-power ratio (SNR) condition, by contrast, it gives a poor result in low SNR. The exact bit error analyses of convolutional codes have been reported. Their method can derive exact error performance in low SNR. Besides, they employ an iterative calculation of probability density function (pdf) without considering truncation errors. The purpose of this paper is to extend their result to the error performance with truncation errors due to a finite path history. Furthermore, an application to the interference channels is demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":158744,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115926547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
