To this effect, the Malaysian Standard Body known as SIRIM has developed the Malaysian Standard Address with the purpose of standardizing Malaysian postal addresses and hence reducing the problem of undelivered mail. This article presents the findings of a study aimed at investigating the various postal-related problems in the Malaysian context. 275 domestic mails, randomly picked from Pos Malaysia Mail Processing Centre were examined and compared against the Malaysian Standard Address. The findings suggest that 58% of the addresses were non-conforming to the SIRIM address standard. Based on this finding, an automated system based on the semantic approach is proposed to address the issue of incomplete and inaccurate address in the context of Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131178297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It manages the shared resource of the Grid and maps user jobs to the resources. Grid resource allocation is one of the critical functions affecting the performance of a Grid, because the number of jobs and amount of required resources are massive and quick responses to users are necessary in a real Grid computing environment. Many methods have been developed for Grid resource allocation. In this paper, we propose the Hybrid Resource Allocation method, based on the Least Cost Method (LCM) and Divisible Load Theory (DLT) method. The Hybrid Resource Allocation method is an improved form of the DLT method. We have developed a modified assignment strategy of DLT by integrating it with LCM. In this paper we describe and evaluate Hybrid Resource Allocation method for Grid resource allocation scenario. This paper also proposes a Grid scheduling model and includes a comparative performance analysis of our proposed Hybrid Resource Allocation method with the existing ones.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130084068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study on the properties of data records shows that these data items can be aligned based on their semantic properties. In this context, we propose an ontological technique using existing lexical database for English (WordNet) for the alignment of data records. Regular expression rules are developed to align the data items extracted so that they can be used for further processing. Experimental results indicate that our technique is robust and performs better than the existing state of the art wrappers.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132169674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the mean time, important factors such as the laser population inversion at various stages, the peak photon number inside the laser resonator, the output energy and the pulse width of the Q-switched laser output are computed. For typical configuration, a Q-switched laser pulse of 150 ns in duration and 3 mJ in energy is obtained. Also the effects of the pumping rate, reflectivity of output coupler, and saturable absorber doping concentration on output laser characteristics are studied. The simulated results show reasonable agreement with those obtained experimentally by other research groups.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128321588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The graph cut (GC) is applied with multiselection of seed labels to provide the hard constraint, whereas the seeds labels are selected based on user defined. The region growing is applied with multi-selection of threshold and the threshold values are selected based upon histogram. To enhance the representation of each tissue type, pseudocolouring is used. The main goal of this study is to evaluate the graph cut techniques in the segmentation of different breast tissue regions, which correspond to the density in mammograms. Segmentation of the mammogram into different mammographic densities is useful for risk assessment and quantitative evaluation of density changes. Our proposed methodology has been tested on MIAS database.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116415864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, wireless sensor networks suffer from resource limitations, high failure rates and faults caused by the defective nature of wireless communication and the wireless sensor itself. This can lead to situations, where nodes are often interrupted during data transmission and blind spots occur in the network by isolating some of the devices. In this paper, we address the reliability issue by designing an enhanced fault-tolerant mechanism for Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol used in WSN called the ENhancement of FAult Tolerant (ENFAT) ADOV routing protocol. We design and implement a backup route algorithm by creating a backup path for every node in the network. When a node gets failure to deliver the data packet through the main route, it immediately employs the backup route to become a new main path to reduce a number of data packets dropped and to maintain the continuity of data packet delivery. Moreover, this proposed routing protocol satisfies the tradeoff between the faulttolerance and the low transmission delay. Consequently, the reliability, availability and maintainability of the network are achieved. The simulation shows that proposed routing scheme is better than the AODV routing. Since such databases stores huge amounts of historical data, it is necessary to devise methods by which complex OLAP queries can be answered as fast as possible. OLAP is an approach which facilitates analytical queries accessing multidimensional databases. Using materialized views as pre-computed results for time-consuming queries is a common method for speeding up analytical queries. However, some constraints do not allow the systems to create all possible views. Therefore, one of the crucial decisions that data warehouse designers need to make is in the selection of the right set of views to be materialized. This paper focuses on solving the multi-objective view selection problem using a lexicographic genetic algorithm approach subject to disk space constraint.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125148767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
