However no specific literature was found to rank causes of road accidents based on fuzzy data of multi-criteria decision making. This paper proposes a ranking of five selected causes linked to road accidents. Types of vehicles involved in road accidents are considered as the criteria for ranking. The imprecision or vagueness inherited the causes has led the application of fuzzy sets theory to deal with ranking problems. Data in form of linguistic variables were collected from three authorized personnel of three Malaysian Government agencies. The multi criteria decision making, fuzzy TOPSIS was applied in computational procedures. From the analysis, it shows that registered vehicle was first in ranking and road environment as the last in ranking. The ranking is drawn using the magnitude of closeness coefficient of TOPSIS. It was indicated that the causes of road accidents can be ranked based on linguistic judgments.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122419083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The important component of any TTS synthesis system is the database of sounds. In this study, three types of sound units i.e., phonemes, diphones and syllables are concatenated to produce natural sound for good quality Sindhi text to speech (STTS) system. The object of this paper consists in treating the phonemes, diphones and syllables under the aspect of the lexicon. The methodology used in STTS is to exploit acoustic representations of speech for synthesis, together with linguistic analyses of text. Sindhi is highly homographic language, the text is written without diacritics in real life applications, that creates lexical and morphological ambiguity. The problem of understating non-diacritic words can be solved using semantic knowledge. This paper describes a Sindhi TTS synthesis system that relies on a WordNet to identify the analogical relations between words in the text. The proposed approach is focused on the use of WordNet structures for the task of synthesis. The architecture and novel algorithm for STTS is proposed. The experiments using WordNet that show promising results and the accuracy of our proposed approach is acceptable.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122633821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Embedded fish bone lodge in the throat is not easily visible in unprocessed plain radiograph. Serious complication may cause perforation of the lodged and inflammation that can progress to abscess. Forty X-ray images of 23 male and 17 female patients between the ages of 6 to 72 years from different ethnic groups were collected from Hospital Sungai Buloh and Pusat Perubatan Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM). Due to the high resolution, the images were crop before being processed using adaptive histogram equalization. The quality of the image was assessed and evaluated during pre and post processing by the radiologists. The result shows AHE as a promising contrast enhancement for detection of fish bone in soft tissue at the lateral neck radiographs.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121277076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method is an efficient alternative tool for the numerical simulation of multiphase flow. In this paper, we start by describing a choice of interaction potential that reproduces the attraction force between particles together with the varying contact angles on surface by balancing the adhesive and cohesive force. After showing how the formulation of the particles interaction fits in to the framework of lattice Boltzmann simulations, numerical results are presented to highlight the applicability of the approach.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115533733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The three isomers of di-hydroxy benzene namely, catechol, resorcinol, hydroquinol are taken into consideration here. Gaussian software[2] was used to carry out the studies. The dipole moments and the theoretical vibrational frequencies are analyzed. Only hydroquinol being a symmetrical molecule has a zero dipole moment. Substitution also has a marked effect on the dipole moment. The dipole moment is extremely high for tetra substitution. The vibrational frequencies reflect the steric hindrance caused by the position of the two hydroxyl groups and confirm the earlier findings of CC bond elongation or contraction and ∠CCO bending.","PeriodicalId":158568,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127444603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
