In this disease, the pain threshold can change and, in general, is lower, so pain is perceived before. The cause of the decrease is a continuous pressure stimulus of intensity above or close to the threshold that persists over time. The duration to reduce the threshold will depend on the degree of intensity: It will be longer if it is of lower intensity. In the absence of medication, the decrease in threshold is characterized by a sensation of electrical pain followed by allodynia, hyperalgesia, and dysesthesia in the affected area. The level of pain tolerance in that area drops, so the patient cannot support that area. The disease becomes completely disabling. The patient was diagnosed with universal hyperpathy; in fact, the decrease in the threshold can affect both somatic and visceral pain. Although the disease itself would have a minimum level of incidence worldwide, since the probability of survival of individuals is small, the content presented here is useful for the treatment of hyperpathy and the control of the pain threshold. Carbamazepine and topiramate turn out to be two medications that allow modulation of the threshold. Performing aerobic exercise is also essential. Furthermore, it is necessary to control the stimuli of the afferent pathways at all times, both in duration and intensity.","PeriodicalId":158445,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Updates","volume":"9 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141796034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bad eating habits and genetic predisposition are possible factors related to its appearance. Childhood obesity has tripled in the last 3 decades. More than 340 million children worldwide are categorized as overweight or obese Childhood obesity can affect the self-esteem of young obese individuals and lead to long-term serious psychological and social consequences. Purpose: The purpose of this bibliographical review is to highlight the physical therapy intervention in the quality of life in obese children and adolescents and its interaction with other therapeutic interventions. Methodology: The search was done in MEDLINE / Pubmed, Cochrane, Embase, Scopus Studies had to be clinical studies and refer to quality of life and the use of physical therapy in obese children and adolescents. Based on the above criteria, 18 articles emerged and after applying the selection criteria, 4 articles were selected. Discussion – Conclusion: Physical therapy with therapeutic exercise programs can be a key factor in improving the respiratory function and quality of life of people suffering from obesity. Physical therapists currently provide little input into the management of children who are overweight or obese, despite having a skill set appropriate for working with this population. Physiotherapy helps to support the mobility of obese children by increasing their physical health and quality of life. There is little detail about how to get obese children \"physically active\" in a way that is appropriate for their development and ability.","PeriodicalId":158445,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Updates","volume":"7 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140361328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These components operate under severe conditions, including high contact pressures, high speeds, and aggressive environments, making lubrication delivery and maintenance challenging. The study explores advancements in wear resistance through the use of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene, additive manufacturing, and various surface treatment techniques such as the creation of oil-retaining microreliefs and the application of solid lubricants and antifriction coatings. These technological innovations have substantially improved the functionality of the components in dry friction units, despite the traditionally shorter service life compared to lubricated systems. The paper details experimental studies on the laser treatment of carbon and alloyed steels, examining structural-phase transformations and the efficiency of laser cladding in enhancing surface properties. Methods for applying solid lubrication to reduce wear and optimize performance in heavily loaded units are discussed, with a focus on laser gas powder cladding. The research demonstrates the potential of laser surface treatment to significantly increase the wear resistance and operational life of machine components, contributing to environmental and economic sustainability in industrial mechanical engineering. Field tests confirm the effectiveness, laser-hardened parts showing significantly improved wear resistance, and reduced production costs, underlining the importance of ongoing research in this area for ensuring the durability and reliability of machinery operating under extreme conditions.","PeriodicalId":158445,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Updates","volume":"50 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140362946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The city's rapid urbanization and inadequate infrastructure have left it increasingly vulnerable to flooding, exacerbated by the impacts of climate change. Anticipated flood effects include disruption of daily life, infrastructure damage, and threats to public safety, necessitating urgent attention. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of urban flood hazards in Awka Metropolis, utilizing an integrated approach combining the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Flood Hazard Index (FHI) to gauge the city's flood vulnerability. The primary objectives were to identify key geophysical factors contributing to flooding, categorize these factors by their vulnerability, determine their reliability indices, delineate flood-prone zones, and generate a spatial flood extent map. The methodology encompassed data acquisition, pre-processing, Flood Modeling (evaluating slope, Elevation, Drainage Network, and flow accumulation), the application of Analytical Hierarchy Process, and the utilization of the Flood Hazard Index. The results classified Awka Metropolis into three flood risk zones: high (837.84 hectares, 14.70%), moderate (2182.65 hectares, 38.30%), and low (2678.45 hectares, 46.99%). These findings provide indispensable insights into the distribution of flood hazards across the city, enabling urban planners and authorities to strategically allocate resources, prioritize mitigation initiatives, and formulate targeted flood risk reduction strategies. Importantly, the incorporation of stakeholder input enhances the study's practical relevance and applicability in real-world urban planning and disaster management scenarios. In conclusion, this research offers a robust and multidimensional framework for assessing urban flood hazards in Awka Metropolis. The synergy of the Analytical Hierarchy Process and Flood Hazard Index equips urban planners, policymakers, and disaster management agencies to proactively tackle the mounting urban flooding challenges. The study's outcomes contribute to the development of sustainable flood risk reduction measures, ultimately enhancing the resilience of Awka Metropolis to future flood events.","PeriodicalId":158445,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Updates","volume":" 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139138857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
