It examines how the use and usages of EFL teachers’ pedagogical capital affects the way they deal with their students in the language classroom. The research was grounded within the interpretive research paradigm. The in-depth unstructured interview and observation were the research tools under narrative inquiry design. The data were collected from three different participants and themes were substantiated by Clandinin and Connelly to replicate their voices and experiences. The research finding reveals that teachers’ profound knowledge and skills about their capital are useful to integrate various cultures and content in the classrooms. Pedagogically inbuilt potentials of teachers and their pedagogical capital maximally enhance learners’ learning opportunities and foster students’ potential. However, it contributes to teachers’ education by rationalizing the essence of teachers’ pedagogical knowledge to transform our ELT practice in Nepal.","PeriodicalId":157329,"journal":{"name":"Curriculum Development Journal","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124156439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It reviews several studies and includes recommendations for top-notch instruction. While the quality of education is a current global problem, Nepal’s education is seen as being of poor quality. In order to guarantee quality education, numerous international conferences have been held. In Nepal, getting a good education is difficult and seen as a piecemeal process. Review shows that there are number of ways to ensure quality education. However, efficiency, effectiveness, equity, relevancy and sustainability are considered the basic measures for a quality education. Similarly, quality environment, quality inputs, quality contents, quality process, quality outputs, quality outcomes, and quality impacts are considered the basic imperatives of quality education. The main methods for achieving quality in diverse sectors include quality assurance, contract compliance, customer-driven, ISO 9000:2000, and self-assessment though the education experts and practitioners perceive quality education as an intangible and elusive notion.","PeriodicalId":157329,"journal":{"name":"Curriculum Development Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116225329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study utilizes a mixed research approach, including field observation, semi-structured questionnaires, Key Informants Interview (KII), and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). In addition, published scientific papers and relevant reports were reviewed to assess tourism and livelihood strategies in the area. The findings of the study revealed that locals engage in various livelihood activities, including tourism, business, agriculture, government and non-government jobs, among others. However, while wetlands-based tourism is a significant livelihood option in the study area, there is a need to identify more income- generating opportunities related to wetlands, as highlighted by the FGD. The study also found a positive and significant relationship between livelihood capitals arising from the wetlands and household livelihood level. The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the livelihoods of the tourism-dependent community, particularly those in poor and disadvantaged groups. The study noted that the extent of the pandemic’s impact differs in core urban areas and neighboring settlements around the study area. Therefore, the study suggests that policymakers and planners must develop plans, policies, and strategies that promote the tourism sector and involve local communities in decision-making processes and tourism implementation, taking into consideration the global pandemic situation. Agriculture is the primary livelihood strategy for people living near the Lake Cluster of Pokhara Valley, but it can lead to natural resource stress if not managed properly. The study suggests that tourism, particularly eco-tourism-based activities, could be the backbone for the livelihood services of the local population in the Pokhara Metropolitan City. However, to ensure the sustainability of ecotourism, there must be an integrated development and conservation strategy based on a strong public-private partnership.","PeriodicalId":157329,"journal":{"name":"Curriculum Development Journal","volume":"308 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124286621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data were gathered from existing theoretical and empirical literature and analyzed descriptively and critically. The study shows that the approaches to teaching literature acknowledge literary texts for their own purposes. For example, a language-based approach treats literature as one of the authentic sources of language teaching and learning to acquire better proficiency of language by students. Likewise, information-based and new criticism approaches regard literature as material to facilitate students to acquire the skills of appreciation. Response-based and other critical literary approaches support the analysis of literary texts using different critical lenses. Concerning the roles of students under the adoption of the aforementioned approaches to teaching literature, the reader-response approach could provide enough space for the students’ responses. The study emphasizes the use of multiple approaches for effective teaching learning of literature.","PeriodicalId":157329,"journal":{"name":"Curriculum Development Journal","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126333858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since, the study is focused on the construction period when chances of misunderstanding, miscommunication, and other conflicts between project-affected people and the project, will be high due to higher incidences of social and environmental issues. This study was completed by applying mix method of research where quantitative research was conducted through a survey among local people of Makalu Rural Municipality (MRM) of Sankhuwasabha and a case interview was done with the chairman of the same Rural Municipality. The study has revealed that local radios and public meetings are the most recommended mediums that participants expected to support the project in properly disseminating project-related information to local people. This article suggests that AHPP should disseminate information about project activities mainly through local radios and public meetings. This study also concludes that the project developer is not providing sufficient information about project activities to local people, which is also a source of misunderstanding between the two sides.","PeriodicalId":157329,"journal":{"name":"Curriculum Development Journal","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114804992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
