Vibrational spectroscopy due to its simplicity both in sample preparation as well as friendly use combined with the technological evolution in data processing and storage could play a promising role in diagnostics even for multifactorial diseases such as osteoarthritis via biofluid analysis. However, despite the related works aiming in synovial fluid there is not a common line in terms of sample preparation. Hence, it is important to establish an effective sample pretreatment protocol to avoid subjectivity and provide the possibility of reliable comparisons among results. In this work, freeze drying preprocessing technique was compared with natural drying in terms of diagnostic performance in 35 knee synovial fluids aspirated from primary osteoarthritic patients with 2 and 4 Kellgren-Lawrence scores. Principal component analysis combined with mean spectra analysis was implemented for this diagnostic purpose. Results have shown that natural drying technique tends to generate more distinct enhanced interclass variations among synovial dried samples compared to freeze drying, despite the latest potential in other biological samples.","PeriodicalId":15707,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Review","volume":"85 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140470033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The temperature change laws of surface heating and cooling were examined using the distribution of heat and the conduction phenomenon. Infrared thermography was applied to detect the surface deterioration of stone cultural relics and disease development. Results show the limestone specimen surface’s temperature change rule during heating and cooling. During the aging process of the limestone specimen, the original disease area deteriorates faster and more seriously than the fresh and unweathered area. The 3D map of the temperature distribution processed by infrared thermography can be used to quickly determine the disease area and semi-quantitatively measure the degree of disease development, which is essential to the protection of cultural relics. The obtained conclusions in this study can provide the reference for the protect of stone cultural relics.","PeriodicalId":15707,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Review","volume":"75 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140470062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is described as a method for creating a thick coating on structural materials with relatively poor qualities and a low cost, referred to as substrate materials, to get the required surface attributes by utilising welding procedures. The weld hardfacing assists in two crucial ways in the improvement of material characteristics: first, it improves features of the material that depend on the surface, such as corrosion and wear resistance. Second, characteristics like toughness, durability, and others that rely on the mass. Numerous sectors, including chemical, mining, power plants, and many more, may benefit from it. This article reviews several studies that have been done so far on various substrates to improve the microstructure, prevent corrosion, and improve mechanical characteristics in the context of gas metal arc weld hardfacing. The findings of this work will be helpful to current and future researchers as well as to other industries utilising weld hardfacing techniques.","PeriodicalId":15707,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Review","volume":"131 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140462815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, their mechanical properties are affected by many factors. To elucidate the mechanics influencing such double-wall steel boxed cofferdam configurations, an analytical and computational model was proposed. Through the three-dimensional finite element software midas civil, calculations and analyses were executed on a steel boxed cofferdam design example from the 10# pier pile foundation of the Xinjiang Kalasuke Reservoir’s extra-large bridge and its platform construction. The alterations in mechanical states triggered by adjustments to the influential parameters, such as wall plate thickness, water injection height between double walls, and support rod spacing within the double walls of the steel boxed cofferdam, were discussed. Results show that, the optimal wall thickness for this cofferdam variant is between 5 and 6 mm, the controllable water injection height ranges from 3.4 m to 4.5 m, and consistently low-stress states occur across the bottom skeleton, secondary beam, and bottom plate throughout the construction process. The spacing between double-wall horizontal components greatly influences the stress and deformation of the inner and outer wall plates. The obtained conclusions provide a significantly reference value for the design theory and practical application of double-wall steel boxed cofferdam structures","PeriodicalId":15707,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Review","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140464072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
