This structure overcomes the difficulties met when the electromagnetic analysis of a circular structure is performed. First, we describe a design procedure of this new type and two sets of experimental results are presented to illustrate the accuracy between theory and performance. This new configuration can create zeros at the right or left hand of the band. With a very powerful computational electromagnetic analysis, the design needs less tuning. The Transmitter was fully tested at INPE facilities within spatial requirements for flight qualifying. The method is based upon a first-order linear model, which is then augmented with the nonlinear effects. Closed form formulae are derived for predicting the distributed oscillator phase noise which contributes from the additive noise and mixing (intermodulation) noise. The principal issues related to phase noise are discussed. Harmonic balance (HB) simulation in advanced design system (ADS) is used to ascertain the accuracy of the phase noise predictions. It is found that the theoretical conclusions are in a good agreement with the phase noise observed in the simulation, which in turn is within acceptable limits. In five test cases, namely, three 4-stage distributed oscillators operating at the three different frequencies and two distributed oscillators in 4-stage and 5-stage respectively operating at the same frequency, the maximum calculated/simulated phase noise error is about 5.0 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from the carrier.","PeriodicalId":156662,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2003 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference - IMOC 2003. In the case of MEMS tunable components, like microcapacitors or microinductors, the consequences of high RF power levels on performances are to be quantified. Two microcapacitors systems are studied: one-gap with RF signal and actuation voltage on same electrodes, and two-gaps with RF signal separated from actuation. Computational results show great influence of power on pull-in, even for quite low power levels, for both MEMS capacitor structures. The used conducting polymer in the paint formulations is the polyaniline doped with two different acids: dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA), and camphorsulfonic acid (CSA). In practice, RAM ought to be effective over a range of incidence angles; hence, this paper presents reflectivity measurements using NRL arch and radar cross section techniques, in an anechoic chamber. The RAM manufacture and its characterization were carried out at the Material Division of the Space Aeronautical Institute (IAE)/CTA-Defense Department. The circuits deploy transmission line theory to describe wave propagation of both the signal modes and the parasitic (ferrite) mode. The validity of this approach is demonstrated for two different TLTs. Both devices have an upper frequency limit of 5.5 GHz. Due to that, in this paper a broadband planar antenna based on the classic Yagi-Uda dipole antenna and projected to the range of frequencies that includes 1.8 GHz, 1.9 GHz, and 2.45 GHz is presented. This \"tilted dipole, quasi-Yagi antenna\" achieves a measured 41% bandwidth for VSWR<2 a directivity of 5.5 dBi and an efficiency of 70-85%. In addition, a comparison between this antenna and a classical quasi-Yagi is done.
