During the microwave-irradiated thermal reduction, intercalated benzene in the GO easily generates carbon atoms by pyrolysis; the released carbon atoms react with surrounding defect sites in the GO surface to successfully form new C-C bonds. As a result of the newly formed sp2-hybridized C-C bond in the rGO surface, the defect-repaired rGO (rGO-B) shows remarkably enhanced crystallinity (ID/IG ratio: rGO-B, 0.63; rGO-T, 1.08), thermal stability, and electrical properties over that of rGO prepared without a carbon-source supplement (rGO-T). Especially, compared to the rGO-T, the rGO-B had 4.4 times more carrier density and 18 times increased carrier mobility because of the restoration of defect sites in the rGO-B surface. The rGO-B exhibited six times higher electrical conductivity than did rGO-T because of the improved carrier mobility. These results obviously suggest that the reduction of GO by means of microwave-irradiated thermal reduction with a carbon-source supplement could be a powerful approach for commercial mass production of high-quality rGO because of its easy manufacturing approach.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"11 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132361331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plate is subjected to the mechanical load with forces acting in the plane of plate outer layers and temperature field defined by the temperature difference between plate edges. Mainly, the effect of the rate of plate imperfection on values of the critical parameters has been examined. Plate model has been solved analytically and numerically using the approximation methods: orthogonalization and finite differences, and finite element. Obtained values of critical temperature differences or critical mechanical loads and corresponding with them temperature differences show the dynamic reaction of examined plate on time-dependent loads and parameter connected with the plate preliminary geometry. The influence of imperfection rate on final results can be meaningful.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132182811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the fatigue test was designed and carried out by using beach marking method to record the crack propagation process. By conducting microscopic examination on the fracture surface, it shows that the lack of penetration (LOP) at the weld root, combined with the high stress at that site, results in the fatigue crack initiation and propagation to penetrate the deck. Additionally, the fatigue assessment in terms of the S-N curves for such a failure mode was carried out. With comparison to other fatigue test results from the literature, it manifests the differences between the specimens failed due to root-deck crack and toe-deck crack, which can benefit the fatigue design of OSDs by giving a more specific and process-oriented results.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129292841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different parameters like grade of concrete, beam longitudinal reinforcement ratio and transverse stirrups spicing are considered. The basic strength properties of concrete, steel and HFRP reinforcements are determined experimentally. Experimental torque verses twist relationship is established for various values of torque and twist using elastic, plastic theories of torsion. Finally the ultimate torque is determined using experimentaly for different parameters considered in this study. Based on this study, a good agreement is made between finite element analysis and the experimental behaviour.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125606097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The core layer were produced from pine wood fiber or beech wood fibers while the face fibers were produced pine fibers. The length of the beech fibers in the core layer increased from 4.3 mm to 28.2 mm while it increased from 4.9 to 29.1 mm for the pine fibers. The shelling ratio and panel thickness were 50/50 and 10 mm, respectively. Based on EN 120-method, the formaldehyde emission released from the MDFs were identified. The formaldehyde emission considerably declined with increasing fiber size at the same manufacturing parameters such as resin content, density, pressing parameters, and mat moisture content. Furthermore, MDF specimens having beech fibers in the core layer showed lower formaldehyde emission than that of the MDFs having pine fibers in the core layer.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116735087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From this perspective, the green concrete concept has evolved and more researches have been done on replacement by green materials. Ferrock is a binder that is a blend of Iron Powder, Flyash, Lime Powder, Metakaolin and Oxalic acid. Oxalic acid acts as a catalyst and on reaction with CO2 and water produces Iron Carbonates, which is the hardened product. It can enhance the environment by absorbing the atmospheric CO2 for its hardening process. The current work was carried out by varying the oxalic acid (Catalyst) concentrations among the constituents of the Ferrock mortar mix. From results, it has been found that the optimum molarity of oxalic acid as catalyst was 10 moles and ferrock also absorbs considerable amount of CO2 from the atmosphere and reduces the amount of CO2 emitted from the industries.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133042619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Utilizing experimental characterization for important simulation inputs (e.g., microstructural features size, constituent stiffness), the numerical model makes use of a variational form of the Gurson model, based on the nonlinear homogenization approach, to account for the experimentally observed deformation features in this composite (e.g., void deformation and growth, particle fracture). By considering the variability in microstructural features (e.g., particle shape, size, and aspect ratio), as well as densely packed ceramic particles, the proposed model is evaluated by comparing the numerical responses to experimental results for quasi-static and dynamic stress-strain behavior of the material. The results show that the proposed approach is able to accurately predict the mechanical response and deformation of the microstructure. Once validated, the model is expanded for studying the predominant damage mechanisms in this material, as well as determining important mechanical response features such as transitional strain rates, flow stress hardening, extensive flow softening, and energy absorbing efficiency of the material as a function of void and particle volume fraction under high strain rate loading. The totality of this work opens promising avenues for qualitative (damage micromechanisms) and quantitative (stress-strain curve) understanding of ceramic-metal composites under various loading conditions, and offer insights for designing and optimizing cermet microstructures.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130685749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an attempt to develop filter design criteria in relation to constriction size in gravel filters. It is an alternative approach from the conventional filter design criteria of Terzaghi, which is based on the particle size distribution of the filter media and base material. In his study a criterion for filter to prevent erosion is proposed based on the constriction size distribution of the filter media. The proposed constriction size-based criterion, C10/d95 2 directly compares the controlling constriction size (C10) with the specific representative base size (d95) defines the effectiveness of filters, hence it is a more effective method compared to the Terzaghi criterion (D15 /d85<5) which is based purely on particle size. This ratio explains the behavior of filters more clearly and is proved by a number of tests on various base-filter combinations. When compared to Terzaghi criteria, constriction size distribution criterion proves to be more effective.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115969064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Use of such industrial/agricultural waste in construction can be the viable solution not only for environmental pollution but also for land disposal problems. In view of developing sustainable mortar, waste paper pulp ash is used as a partial replacement of cement in various range from 5% to 20% with increment of 5%. The physico-chemical properties of the obtained waste paper pulp ash were studied, and it was observed that the silica content was about 29.25% which is near to silica content in cement. Two mortar mixes 1:4 and 1:6 proportion were designed. Mortar cubes were prepared for different mixes and were cured for various curing periods. The developed mortar mixes were tested for the various physico-mechanical tests viz. compressive strength, flexural brick bond strength, shear brick bond strength and shrinkage limit test. The test results revealed that as the content of the waste increased, the water to cement ratio for the mix was also significantly increased, since the wastepaper pulp has a high degree of water absorption. At the optimum dose of 10% replacement of waste paper pulp ash, the compressive, flexural brick bond and shear brick bond strength was increased by 10% as compared to control mix. Therefore, development of sustainable mortar using waste paper pulp ash will be helpful to survive environment from industrial pollution.","PeriodicalId":156312,"journal":{"name":"ChemRN: Engineering Materials (Topic)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129775496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
