Our contribution consists in an extension of the A* algorithm in a cell decomposition, where besides its position, the orientation of the platform is also considered when searching for a path. This is achieved by constructing 16 layers of orientations and only visiting neighbor layers when searching for the lowest cost. To simplify collision checking, the robot's footprint is used to inflate obstacles, yet, to allow the robot to find paths close to obstacles, the actual footprint of the robot must used. By discretizing the orientation space into layers and computing an oriented footprint for each layer, the actual footprint of the robot is used, increasing the configuration space without becoming computationally expensive. The path planning algorithm was developed under the EU-funded project CARLoS1 and was implemented in a stud welding robot simulated within a naval industry environment, validating our approach.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121987998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most used methods to correct the quality lack is to use shunt, series or mixed topologies of active power filters. Mixed filters can compensate loads that generate voltage harmonics and current harmonics, but the economic investment is high. Commercial shunt filters are more widespread due to their design, modularity and cost; although their non-linear load tracking capability is limited. The aim of this work is to improve the shunt active filter reference tracking, designing a variable reactance at the filter output. The validity of the proposed design is analyzed through a Matlab-Simulink platform.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122233621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is an alternate solution to small-scale hydropower as it exploits unused resources such as small rivers or streams. Based on previous studies, we explain how to obtain the optimal design of an Archimedes screw according to its nominal design flow rate, its inclination and its number of blades. Then, we develop a numerical quasi-static model to determine the mechanical efficiency of the Archimedes screw according to its geometrical parameters, its rotational speed and its degree of filling. Then, the Archimedes screw model is merged with a dynamic model of a permanent magnet synchronous generator in order to determine the electric power production supplied to the grid as a function of a specific site.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129414769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comparisons in terms of self- and mutual inductances, and on-load torques have been carried out using 2-D finite element method (FEM) for conventional and mutually coupled, double layer winding switched reluctance motors (SRMs) as well as fully-pitched and single layer winding SRMs. The numerical results have shown that the fully pitched switched reluctance machine (FPSRM) has the highest inductance variation against rotor position and hence produces the highest on-load torque if the machine is not heavily saturated. However, its significant longer end-winding will leads to higher copper loss. This can eventually jeopardize its torque vs copper loss performance. To boost torque production while maintaining short end-winding and hence low level of copper loss, two short-pitched, single layer winding SRMs with similar winding configurations to those of conventional and mutual coupled, double layer winding SRMs can be employed. It is found that for the same copper loss and without heavy magnetic saturation, both single and double layer mutually coupled SRMs can produce higher on-load torque compared to their conventional counterparts. Moreover, single layer mutually coupled SRM can achieve comparable torque against copper loss performance to the FPSRM but with much shorter end-winding and also smaller volume.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128288023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, electric motor characteristics do not completely satisfy traction requirements in agricultural operations which imply high torques at low speeds as well as high transport speeds. The paper proposes to apply a winding switching method for electric wheel motors. The key advantage is the adjustment of resistance and flux to the optimal operation point which influences the motor characteristics and efficiency. Experiments show the transition of three winding configurations. The electric power for the traction drive is provided by a diesel-generator. Interaction of power flow and winding change is investigated.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"298 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128675357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twist Drive is one of transmission systems which is consisted of a pair of strings and rotary motor. This transmission system converts torque into a high pulling force by using a pair of strings twisted on each other. In this paper, Twist Drive system is verified at first. Next, Twist Drive system is implemented to the master-slave tendon-driven robot hand system to realize the downsizing of the actuator part. In order to realize haptic transmission, a method which can achieve 4ch-bilateral control and tendon-driven control, simultaneously is implemented. Here, to achieve the tendon-driven control, a method to keep the wire tension using compliance control based on hybrid angle is realized. The effect of the proposed system is verified through experiments.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129271684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Index of the bit modified in the stego signal, however, has a tradeoff with imperceptibility and robustness: hiding data at a lower bit index of samples has low audibility of change with high susceptibility of being affected by intentional or other alterations to the stego. By choosing cover samples that are above a threshold, in this paper we show that the embedding bit index can be raised reasonably with minimal change to noticeability of stego. Additionally, the threshold for embedding results in a stronger key for data hiding and oblivious retrieval. Measures using spectrograms and spectral distortion confirm the imperceptibility of the stego.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124759183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless - across Europe - some pilots where protection devices in secondary substations are coordinated with the one in primary substations are already running. Applications, like logic selectivity, are often studied in cooperation with the IEC 61850 standard. The main limitation of the logic selectivity is protection settings and logics are based on the standard configuration of the power distribution network. Every time the network configuration changes, protection settings and logics are no longer valid. The FP7 European Project IDE4L propose an adaptive fault location, isolation and service restoration cycle - based on the logical selectivity - where the whole protection system is always configured in the optimal way, independently from the network configuration. The paper describes how this is achieved by modelling protection devices via IEC 61850 logical nodes and updating the protection settings and logic in real-time.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129738372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Permanent magnet brushless dc (PM BLDC) motor is a suitable candidate for this application, since it offers high efficiency. However, the cost of rare-earth permanent magnets is high which pave the way for the use of low-cost ferrite magnets. The motivation behind this paper is to asses the design feasibility to develop a low-cost BLDC motor for PV submersible pump. Hence, 2D-FEM aided analysis of single, three phase spoke (ST) and surface mounted (SM) BLDC motor is carried out and the results of the comparison are presented. In addition, the design aspects of single phase ST and SM BLDC motor with tapered and asymmetric pole shoe design for the 100 mm bore-well PV based submersible BLDC motor water pumps are also presented.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130305718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a superposition of full state feedback and disturbance feedback. This paper presents a control technique based on Disturbance Accommodation Control (DAC) to reduce fatigue on drive train generated by wind which is combination of step and periodic disturbances (generated by wind shear and tower shadow) of the turbine for above rated wind speed (Region III). We have presented a wind modeling for wind shear and tower shadow effect for the wind turbine control simulation and also developed a control scheme to mitigate the effect of 3p flicker on drive train. 5MW wind turbine of the National Renewable Laboratories (NREL) is used as research object and results are simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. We designed the controller based on linearized model of the wind turbine generated for above rated wind speed and then tested its performance on the nonlinear model of wind turbine. We have shown a comparison of the results for proportional-integral(PI) and proposed DAC controller tested on nonlinear model of wind turbine. Result shows that our proposed controller shows better mitigation of flicker generated due to 3p effect by using collective pitch control as compared to PI with tower and actuator dynamics.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"8 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130488242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
