Current guidelines and scientific research on thromboprophylaxis most often refer to the population of oncology patients, who differ in many aspects from patients receiving palliative care. Thus, doctors working with patients undergoing palliative treatment have to face many problems related to safety and effectiveness of antithrombotic therapy in this type of care. \u0000In the case of chronically ill patients, diagnostic process may be somewhat difficult because the symptoms resulting from the underlying diseases can mask VTE symptoms. The aim of this article is to review the literature on symptoms and thromboprophylaxis in this group of patients. \u0000According to the latest guidelines of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), it is not recommended to use VTE prophylaxis in outpatient oncology patients routinely, but it should be considered in high-risk patients who received a Khorana score of at least 2 before starting a new chemotherapy cycle. \u0000In patients diagnosed with VTE, in long-term prophylaxis lasting at least 6 months, due to greater effectiveness, it is recommended to use low-molecular-weight heparins, edoxaban, rivaroxaban or apixaban instead of vitamin K antagonists, which can be used if the previously mentioned drugs are unavailable. There are some studies which show that thromboprophylaxis may be beneficial for patients in palliative care. On the other hand, another studies’ results suggest that patients won’t gain any benefit from prevention. \u0000As our article shows it is very crucial to conduct scientific research on palliative patients and create clear guidelines for prophylaxis for this group of people.

The article discusses the importance of speed and power in football and the need for appropriate training and load monitoring to minimise risk of injury. A comparative analysis of the players' speed and power indicators before and during the season was presented, suggesting the importance of dynamic physical adaptations in the face of the demands of the competition. Aim. The aim of the study was to investigate whether soccer players could improve their speed and strength through soccer training in a relatively short preparation period. Material and methods. The study involved 41 adult male footballers from the IV and III leagues, aged between 18 and 34, undergoing speed and power assessments. Speed was measured over a distance of 20 metres with additional measurements at 5 and 10 metres, while power was assessed by a long jump from a standing position, taking into account the stability of the landing. Results. Statistical analysis showed no significant differences in speed at 5 and 10 metres between terms I and II, but significant differences were observed in speed at 20 metres, where the average time decreased by 0.04 seconds. In contrast, the power test showed significant differences, increasing by 2.85 W in term II. There were no significant differences in speed and power relative to field position or correlation with age, although a weak positive correlation was observed between age and speed for 20 metres in term II and a weak negative correlation between age and the difference in the power test between terms. Conclusion. The analysis showed significant differences in power tests between terms, as well as differences in speed at 20 metres between defensive and offensive players. There were no significant correlations of age with test results, but a weak positive correlation was observed between age and speed at 20 metres in the 2nd term and a weak negative correlation between age and differences in the power test between terms. The prognosis, especially in case of late diagnosis, is poor. The aim of the study is to systematise information on subungual melanoma. To raise awareness among the public and professionals working in the skin care sector of the diagnosis, early detection and treatment of subungual melanoma. \u0000Brief description of the state of knowledge: Subungual melanoma originates from subungual melanoma lentigines and constitutes from 0.7% to 3.5% of all malignant melanomas. Among dark-skinned populations, this subtype accounts for up to 30% and is the most common subtype of malignant melanoma among African Americans, Asians, and Latinos. Subungual melanoma occurs asymmetrically, most often affecting the big toe or thumb. In this disease, the starting point are melanocytes, which undergo malignant transformation within the nail matrix. A symptom of the disease may be melanonychia, a streak of pigment or irregular discoloration, eventually it takes the form of a triangle. This symptom indicates an advanced stage of the disease. The basis for making the diagnosis is dermoscopy and biopsy. Grazzini et al. suggest conducting a biopsy in each case where one nail plate is affected and the lesion persists for more than 6 months. An important element of diagnostics that helps diagnose of subungual melanoma is the ABCDEF algorithm. Knowledge of the above-mentioned helps to detect disturbing symptoms at an early stage of the disease, which improves the prognosis and increases the chances of cure. \u0000Summary:Early detection of melanoma gives a better chance of cure, reduces mortality and complications of the disease, therefore any action to increase public knowledge and awareness on the subject is important.
