This challenge is compounded for students who speak English as their second or third language. Although podcasts and vodcasts are increasingly becoming popular in HEIs as a means of augmenting face-to-face f2f lectures, their limitations are well documented. In this paper we report on a MOBILect, an interactive mobile lecturing tool that aimed to mitigate the limitations of podcasting or vodcasting and fosters deep learning. The tool was evaluated at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. This paper describes MOBILect, its architecture, design and implementation and also its ability for enhancing learning in higher education.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Mob. By constructing real-world corpora comprising accumulated ULLs with information on what, when, where, and how learners have learned in the real world and analysing them, we can support learners to learn more effectively. The amount of accumulated data is large and the relationships among the data are so complicated that it is difficult to grasp how closely the ULLs are related to each other. Therefore, this paper proposes a system to help learners grasp relationships among learners, knowledge, place and time, using network graphs and network analysis. In the evaluation experiment, 17 international students studying at the Kyushu University and Tokushima University evaluated the system's performance, usability, as well as the ease of understanding and learning using the system. Based on the experiment results, we conclude that analysing and visualising relationships between learners and ubiquitous learning are important factors to increase learning opportunities.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. A national mobile learning program has been conducted in Taiwan since 2013 for training the teachers in 38 selected high schools to develop teaching plans based on ten mobile learning strategies. It was found that most of the science teachers 40% preferred utilising guided learning in their usual learning activities. Furthermore, video sharing 14% and inquiry-based learning 14% were also conventional learning strategies. In the meantime, 57% of the teachers looked forward to implementing issue-based discussion and project-based learning in their future teaching activities. This finding indicates the gap between the teachers' ability and their expectations. Consequently, it is inferred that implementing mobile learning activities in teaching contexts is feasible and expected. Moreover, additional teacher training programs for mobile learning are required.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Mob. Learn. However, students should be taught system-thinking skills in order for them to gain an overall understanding of complex environmental issues. The purpose of this paper is to solve this issue by integrating social media into conventional mobile learning, using a system called M-Learning 2.0. This integration can promote collaborative sharing of life experiences in nature as well as discussion of different perspectives. Therefore, this paper first introduces a fundamental framework that builds an environment according to a social cognition model. Furthermore, a pilot case study involving students collaboratively taking photos via the use of a mobile application is conducted. Finally, further research issues related to M-Learning 2.0 are proposed. It is hoped that this work will provide readers with a potential research blueprint.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Mob. Learn. Therefore, the researchers first developed a CAULL environment for students to learn the surroundings of Cheng Kung Lake with the use of the handheld PDA, the wireless internet, and RFID readers and tags. There were three sections in the learning content about Cheng Kung Lake, including the reading units, scenario-based conversations, and RFID-generated Q&A in the reading and audio clips. Further, there were 47 intermediate-proficiency-level graduate students participating in this study. The results indicate that most students benefited from using this kind of CAULL and improved their receptive language skills, as well as demonstrate students' positive attitudes towards the implementation. Finally, design and development issues, affecting learning factors, problems and suggestions in such a CAULL environment were discussed.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Mob. Learn. M-learning provides many advantages to our education system. Cloud computing is the new technology that has started to be widely adopted for use with several applications by many education providers. A number of issues that have delayed the complete adoption of M-learning applications through cloud computing services still need to be solved. This paper defines an appropriate set of requirements, i.e. availability, quick response, flexibility and ease of use, long-term storage, elasticity and scalability, integrity, privacy and confidentiality and the control of information flow. The dimensions of these requirements are tailored to criteria developed from the literature study, standards for software quality and their guidelines. The paper then highlights the level of importance of each defined requirement for higher educational institutions, training centres, research laboratories, infant and junior schools.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. Using a cross-sectional survey and a convenient sampling technique, students from one of the universities in Malaysia where e-learning and m-learning are implemented were chosen as the target population. The work shows that different layers of mobile security awareness exist among learners of each establishment. Key findings include differences in perception of wireless connection in mobile devices while on a public network, seemingly inappropriate usage, security protection among mobile users, security threat created by mobile devices and security threat awareness behaviour of users. This paper indicates a generic threat model for the processes of mobile learning. After a brief discussion of the attributes involved with mobile user security behaviour and protective characteristics of digital learning from the security and dependability point of view, the use of threat models in mobile users' security is explained. Limitations and future research have been indicated.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Mob. Learn. A questionnaire is used to investigate students' 'perceived usefulness' and 'perceived ease of use' towards using the interactive e-book in learning English. To find out the effects of using interactive e-book on English blank-filling cloze test of different achievement students, a four-lesson experiment was conducted in the English course in a high school. The experimental results show that although the students using interactive e-book do not outperform the students receiving conventional instruction in learning English, the statistical feedback in terms of 'perceived usefulness' and 'perceived ease of use' on the questionnaire shows that the students highly appreciated and accepted the interactive e-book learning activity.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int. It can be used in classrooms and can also effectively improve learning motivation. Besides, there are safety concerns when a teacher takes a whole class to a nearby water area to observe ecological activities. This study will be discussed the effects of combining 5E learning strategies with image-based augmented reality in the aquatic animal curriculum. A total of 53 fourth grade students in northern Taiwan participated in the experiment. Learning motivation and satisfaction levels of the experimental group students who used AR APP in learning about aquatic organisms was significantly higher than the control group students. The use of the AR APP with the 5E strategy teaching model has stimulated more students' interest in the topic, helping students discover new problems, and allowing students to think and observe things in a new way.","PeriodicalId":155372,"journal":{"name":"Int.
