And the lasers which relied on their wide clinical applications in treating cutaneous diseases and performing cosmetic procedures have developed greatly. The effects in treatment of laser treatment depend on the immediate response of incident light irradiated in tissues and then the subsequent tissue regeneration and remodeling, especially ablative lasers. In this study, multiphoton microscopy with autofluorescence and second harmonic generation has developed to monitor the optic-thermal response of skin tissue irradiated by CO2 and the process of regeneration. The injury dimensions are also obtained in the experiment. Our findings show that the method has potential ability to monitor the process of tissue change and the remodeling in mouse dermis. The outcome indicates that the injury dimension and area increase with irradiated dose, and the injury threshold is 0.5W. And then the renovation time also increases with laser fluence.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114310933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wavelength spacing between the adjacent transmission peaks was numerically and experimentally analyzed, and it is associated with the effective index difference of the two cores and the length of the TCF. The wavelength spacing between the adjacent transmission peaks can be narrowed by increasing the length of the TCF or the effective index difference of the two cores. This device is compact and easy to be fabricated.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123712964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A generalized discontinuity adaptive Markov random field (DAMRF) model is proposed based on the recently reported bilateral filtering, which is not only edge preservation but also robust to noise. Moreover, instead of looking for fixed value for the regularization parameter, a method for automatically estimating it is applied to the proposed model based on the input images. We use graduated non-convexity (GNC) optimization procedures to minimize the cost function. Results on synthetic and several real traffic sequences are presented, showing the effectiveness of the proposed method and demonstrating its superiority to the conventional DAMRF super-resolution method.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116856690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, three rotation invariant texture descriptors, named CS-LBPV, D-LBPV and ID-LBPV, are proposed in the paper based on local structure and the variance of local image. The new operators characterize the local contrast information into the one-dimensional texture spectrum histogram and they do not need any quantization. The descriptors mentioned in the paper are tested and compared with the traditional methods on two commonly used texture databases and the experimental results show the performance improvement of the new methods in texture image retrieval.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124969723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The size of electrodes influences directly the phase modulation characteristics and far field diffraction efficiency. The model of LCOPA device was set up and the director distribution of liquid crystal in electric field was simulated. The influence of electrode size on phase modulation and diffraction efficiency was analyzed. The results showed that diffraction efficiency increases monotonously with electrode space decreasing. However, when electrode space decreases to less that 1μm, the increment of diffraction efficiency is very small and less than 1%. This means that 1μm of electrode space is small enough for the design of LCOPA devices.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128361214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
