Like other fine arts film is both a piece of social reality and a vehicle of depicting the True-reality rather than idealizing and stereotyping it. Films have unpretentious effect on society’s perspective. Film has without a doubt contributed a great deal to the strange development in India. Sexual minority comprises of that multitude of individuals who fall under the classifications of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transsexuals. Projection of orientation generalizations in films shapes society’s view of orientation jobs. The over-immersion of the sexual orientation generalizations in the movie, KA Bodyscapes directed by Jayan K.Cherian, brings about the deception of orientation which gets implanted in the human psyche and is given from one age to another as an adequate view.","PeriodicalId":155026,"journal":{"name":"Shanlax International Journal of English","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135640115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main character in this book comes from a lower social level and works intelligently to become well-known in society. With the help of the figure Balram Halwai, the postcolonial period of India’s class inequalities was depicted. The current approach of introducing equality in the social structure is required to address the capitalism issue in contemporary India. The social hierarchy needs to be eliminated from society. By elaborating on Indian philosophical notions of living, Aravind Adiga also included philosophical elements in this work. He also discussed the state of Indian education, which forced many low-income students to drop out in the middle of their studies to care for their families. Children who receive an Indian education also acquire incomplete knowledge. The social hierarchy and structure of postcolonial India are discussed in this article.","PeriodicalId":155026,"journal":{"name":"Shanlax International Journal of English","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135640123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It began with philosophy and deep ecology but quickly expanded to become eco-centric as well as anthropocentric and linguistic. “Biocentrism is a life-centered outlook that rejects the view that humanity alone matters in ethics and accepts the moral standing of (at least) all living creatures” (Encyclopedia of Environmental Ethics and Philosophy 97). While Arne Nases intended his version of biocentrism to be a sort of ‘radical egalitarianism’, John Rodman’s viewpoint of biocentricity is ‘ecological sensibility, and Paul Taylor argues ‘respect for Nature’ is one of the prevailing forms of biocentrism. This study proposes a biocentric interpretation of Mowat’s A Whale for the Killing, which depicts life and death in an inconceivable catastrophe involving a voiceless giant species.","PeriodicalId":155026,"journal":{"name":"Shanlax International Journal of English","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135640131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

His works target the problems, confusions, and lack of guidance which exists in the Indian society. As a writer and as a person he believes that the youth of the nation must be aware of what they want in life. He wants to show that life is a series of struggles and hence one has to conquer it to win over. Bhagat has a strong conviction that life is not a bed of roses and hence he wishes to create in the minds of his readers, more humorously that they need to sweat it out to achieve something in their lives. The novel, Two States : The Story of My Marriage is itself self explanatory and enlivening. When a lay reader gets to browse the title, one is reminded of the variant cultures which India has been carrying over under the tag of unity and diversity. When it comes to marriage, in a country like India, it is always a big fat wedding. The paper looks at the facets of love and marriage in the eyes of culture and acceptance. Although the country boasts of modernity and development in all the spheres of life, there is still a lack and a pitfall when it comes to marriage. Caste and family still play a very prominent role in deciding the fate of marriages.","PeriodicalId":155026,"journal":{"name":"Shanlax International Journal of English","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135640120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This abstract delivers a transitory overview of the paper, prominence its mainpurposes, procedure, and discoveries. The study aims to analyse the depiction of national ferocity against Femalein “The Bluest Eye”, examining the ways in which Morrison exposes the harsh reality of gender-based ferocity and its profound impact on the lives of female characters. Through a close reading of the novel, the paper delves into the intricate dynamics of power, oppression, and subjugation, which contribute to the perpetuation of ferocity within the national sphere. Drawing upon feminist literary criticism and utilizing a qualitative research approach, the study critically examines the experiences of characters such as Pecola Breedlove, Frieda, and Claudia, as they navigate the complexities of abuse, both physical and psychological. By unravelling the layers of societal norms, racial prejudices, and cultural influences, the paper sheds light on the multifaceted nature of gender-based ferocity and its interplay with intersecting forms of discrimination. The findings underscore the pervasive nature of national ferocity, highlighting its damaging effects on the psyche and self-worth of Femalecharacters. Moreover, the analysis reveals how Morrison’s narrative acts as a platform for raising awareness and fostering dialogue around the often-silenced issue of gender-based ferocity. By amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized women, the novel invites readers to confront the uncomfortable truths embedded within their society. Ultimately, this research contributes to the existing scholarship on national ferocity and feminist literature by uncovering the profound implications of gender-based ferocity in “The Bluest Eye”. The period impacted many social changes including civil rights for women, and secured power in the hands of women. The novel Abra captures the significance of the period through an empowered female protagonist who renounced her family and society to gain autonomy. Moreover, the novel offers insights into the struggles of women as well as their established power in a world dominated by men. Hence, this article aims to examine the feminist themes in the novel and analyses how the novel depicts the treatment of women in the Canadian patriarchal society. Further, the paper focuses on the protagonist's psychological transformation from an ordinary woman to an empowered individual who defies patriarchal domination, while exploring the period’s spirit of quest for freedom.","PeriodicalId":155026,"journal":{"name":"Shanlax International Journal of English","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135640268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
