Objective: To review the literature to compare the perception of ICU patients about this environment and the professionals who work there. Methods: A search was made in the scientific literature through queries in the electronic databases Lilacs, Medline, PubMed and Scielo, from the descriptors: perception, patients and intensive care unit and their correlates in English. We included original scientific studies of descriptive, experimental or causal comparative typology; published between 1995-2015 dependent variable perception of patients on the ICU; patients who have been hospitalized; samples composed of individuals older than 18 years and preserved cognitive ability; clarity in the samples and analyzes. Results: A total of 63 articles were found, of which 50 were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria. Eight articles were used for analysis and discussion, being grouped in tables. Conclusion: This literature review concludes that the ICU presents several stressors, both sensory factors and emotional factors provoked by the experiences and uncertainty of the outcome in the face of disease. The role of the interdisciplinary team is a fundamental point to address the resolution of these stressors.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83617303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Majority of asthma patients are effectively treated with conventional therapy. Despite advances in conventional therapy, inadequate control of asthma continues to presenta serious problem for a subset of patients. Patients of uncontrolled asthma pose a greater burden for healthcare and require a disproportionate amount of healthcare costs to be spent on treating their condition. Optimum therapy for uncontrolled asthma remains an unmet need.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78252065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chronic liver disease involves a wide range of liver pathologies that include fatty liver, hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma. Since ancient times herbal medicines have been used for various diseases. In the recent decades an increasing number of herbal products, including medicinal herbs and phytochemicals, have been used for treating a variety of diseases worldwide. Thereby, numerous medicinal herbs and phytochemicals have been used as complementary and alternative treatments for chronic liver diseases. Thus, the present review explores the current knowledge of the herbal medicine silymarin in treating chronic liver diseases and on its flaws which need to be overcome in future studies.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77146227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alternative Systems of Medicines: Are they Placebos? 替代药物系统:它们是安慰剂吗?

For example, the doctor injects distilled water or sugar syrup to a patient and tells her that he has given a very powerful medicine which will cure her in a short time. And it actually cures. The healing factor here is the faith of the patient that she was given a wonderful medicine and it will cure her. There are influential sections in medicine and media, probably supported by the powerful drug industry, which are trying to undermine the validity of ASM and dismiss them as mere placebos. For example, an editorial in the Economic Times with the title “No Alternative” argues that there is no alternative to the allopathic systems of medicine because all other systems are just placebos. Some research findings by a reputed medical researcher are cited to support the conclusion.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81492647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lipid peroxide stages in diabetes are extended in plasma, serum, kidney, lens and in erythrocyte membrane [1]. Significant modifications in lipid metabolism and structural modifications in cell membranes are related to the progress of metabolic disorders [2]. The dysfunction among enzymatic and non-enzymatic oxidation of lipids in vivo is not always absolute [3]. Oxidative pressure has these days been proven accountable, as a minimum in the component, for pancreatic β-mobile dysfunction due to glucose toxicity. Under hyperglycemia, production of various decreasing sugars, which includes glucose-6-phosphate and fructose, will increase through glycolysis and polyol pathways [4]. During this method, reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced and cause tissue harm. So, STZ is broadly hired to set off experimental diabetes in animals [5]. DCM-F of Rhizophora mucronata is confirmed anti-hyperglycemic and anti-hyperlipidemic impact on diabetic animals [6]. In the continuation of preceding research, we have appraised the impact of DCM-F on lipid peroxidation and plasma antioxidants in STZ-NAD induced diabetic animals.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78146156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Number of studies on designing of various formulations of curcumin are underway [4]. These formulations employ either pure curcumins or standardized extracts. The curcumins in the extracts and powders are analyzed employing different methods such as HPLC, Spectrophotometric [5] and HPTLC [6,7] methods. The present study was undertaken to evaluate different powder samples and extracts of turmeric available in the market along with the extracts prepared in our laboratory by employing spectrophotometric methods.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81963038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This explains why the entire body must be mentally and physically prepared before one indulges in any type of asana (posture) be it a beginner or advanced posture. It is imperative for one to also understand that yoga is not a form of exercise but merely a system which involves subtle processes to help manipulate the energy within the biological system.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91540160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
