Currently available non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cortico-steroids and disease modifying anti-rheumatic therapies have severe side effects on prolonged use and thus throw a challenge for development of safe, effective alternatives. Of the many plant drugs claimed to be effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, in depth studies were carried out on the fruits of Terminalia chebula (Haradae) and the oleo-gum resin of Boswellia serrata (Sallaki). Glucosamine was shown to be chondrio-protective and effective in osteo-arthritis. Hence, we tested ‘AV-11 03’ which is a combination of the extracts of haradae, salliki an maize glucosamine on acute and chronic inflammatory models by studying a battery of physical, biochemical, histological and radiological parameters.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135240322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They may exhibit externalizing difficulties such as temper tantrum, aggression, even self-injury, together with internalizing problems such as anxiety, fear, depression and impatience. Scalp acupuncture had been found to improve the cognitive, social, as well as behavioral problems. Our clinical observation noted a drastic change in emotional and emotion- related behavioral problems in children with ASD upon the therapy of scalp acupuncture. Methods: Children with ASD aged 2 to 10 were assessed as a treatment group (n=45) and a comparison group (n=44). Data were analyzed by the paired sample t-test. The treatment group received scalp acupuncture therapy of a total of 30 sessions in about 6 months, while the comparison group received no acupuncture treatment. The differences in performance were compared between the two groups. Results: There were significant improvements in performance of temper tantrum, aggression to others, impatience, fears and anxiety after scalp acupuncture. Scalp acupuncture had shown to exhibit prominent influence to items of temper tantrum and aggression take into account the natural course of the disorder. Conclusion: Scalp acupuncture is effective in alleviating emotional and emotion-related behavioral problems especially temper tantrum and aggression problems in children with ASD.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136156625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ever since its introduction about 100 years ago for cancer therapy, mistletoe viscum album extract (VAE) has been widely used in Europe as a popular complementary therapy for many cancers. We present a case of a patient diagnosed with stage 3c (T3N3bM0(i+)) TNBC who declined chemotherapy after a recurrence 2 years later. The patient received subcutaneous, intratumoral as well as intravenous VAE therapy for her recurrence. Her breast masses and lymph node sizes dramatically decreased under ultrasound examination within 2 months. After nearly three years since the tumor resolution, she is currently being managed on weekly subcutaneous VAE as well as intravenous VAE once in 6-8 weeks. She has excellent quality of life, no sign of tumor recurrence or other adverse side effects from her treatments. Though we believe the best outcomes in oncology are by integrating complementary and conventional care together, this case shows that VAE can have standalone effectiveness at least in some cases. Use of VAE to augment conventional treatments should be considered to bolster breast cancer care.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84966215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Soccer is characterized by high intensity intermittent activity patterns. Players perform numerous intensive accelerations and decelerations in conjunction with high-intensity activities including sprinting, jumping, kicking and changing direction [2,3]. Such activity can cause muscle fiber damage. In the literature, CK is commonly used to examine exercise severity and exercise-induced muscle damage [4-6]. A soccer-game impose on players to repeat high numbers of very intensive accelerations and decelerations [7] that involve both concentric and eccentric contractions of the lower limb muscles, which may induce micro damages and structure changes to the muscles [8,9]. CK values have been shown to increase between 24-48h post-competitive soccer play, and to return to baseline approximately 72h or more [10-13], however, interestingly the variation across a typical competitive week of CK values linked to training load (TL) distribution have to date not been investigated. The presence of muscle damage after a soccer match could potentially impair subsequent training and competition performances, however further research is needed.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91344424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In medicine perceptions of drug risks are probably to influence patients’ treatment decisions, their compliance with treatment regimens, their views on the acceptability of adverse reactions and the drugs that cause them, and their attitudes toward government regulation of medications. Understanding perceptions is a prerequisite for designing better communication materials for patients and the general population [1]. The drug use process can be separated into four fundamental components, namely: prescribing, dispensing, administration/ uptake and outcome (efficacy/safety) [2]. The evaluation of medication use is vital for clinical, educational and economic purposes [3]. Monitoring of prescriptions and drug utilization study could distinguish the related problems and give feed backs to the prescriber in order to make awareness for the rational use of drugs [4]. It is therefore necessary to define the prescribing pattern and target the irrational prescribing habit for sending a remedial message [5]. Therefore, the present study has been undertaken to observe the prescribing patterns of Antibiotics and the usage of these agents in different types of patients with different types of diseases in Faridpur City of Bangladesh.","PeriodicalId":15434,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78397454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
