Functional dependencies lead to an appropriate design of a database in terms of a set of relations and can make the checking process significantly easier. For about ten years, several proposals to deal with ill-known or weighted data in database management systems have been made and extensions of the relational data model have been proposed accordingly. In this context, the concept of fuzzy functional dependency has emerged, and several definitions have been given. In this paper, a critical overview of different proposals is provided, and the intended semantics and use of fuzzy functional dependencies are particularly discussed.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":153967,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1994 IEEE 3rd International Fuzzy Systems Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129572605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SOM is used to generate multivariate fuzzy state space from system's input-output data through unsupervised training. The trained SOM is then used as a part of an inference mechanism for a fuzzy logic controller. The proposed method is compared with other fuzzy neural network approaches. Sample data from a chemical plant is used to demonstrate the technique.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":153967,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1994 IEEE 3rd International Fuzzy Systems Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129084101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It utilizes the concept of grid-type fuzzy model by use of a complete set of rules and numerical outputs (consequents). Then with a given system outputs, a set of so called dominant rules is extracted as possible solutions. They can be used further in analyzing the possible actions of the system inputs. Two examples show the applicability of the method proposed.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":153967,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1994 IEEE 3rd International Fuzzy Systems Conference","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132387915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
