The female students were selected from various faculties using a stratified sampling technique through an online platform in a cross-sectional study. The Sociocultural Attitudes Towards Appearance Questionnaire – 4 was employed to measure the internalisation of appearance ideals and appearance-related pressure, such as internalised muscular-athletic, internalised thin-low body fat, as well as pressures from family, peers, and media. Sociodemographic and body weight and height were also reported. The factor of internalised thin-low body fat has the highest mean score, while the lowest mean score was pressure from peers. Pressures from family, peers, and media were significantly different among the BMI categories. However, the finding contradicted with internalised muscular-athletic and internalised thin-low body fat. There should be concerns as significant differences were found in the pressures of family, peers, and media, in which obese females perceived the highest in those variables compared to other weight categories. The results suggest that the use of media among females warrants extra control as it has the highest among obese females towards their appearance. Educational actions are strongly advised so that family and friends would be more supportive in body weight management among females instead of pressuring them on their appearance. These findings suggest that other sociodemographic should be investigated to understand their influence in the internalisation of appearance ideals and appearance-related pressure among females.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128404318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This project proposes that veterinary clinics adopt an online, web-based appointment system to make the appointment process more efficient and straightforward. This research has two objectives: designing and developing a web-based concept for an online appointment booking system. The appointment system is subjected to a usability test to determine whether the proposed system simplifies appointment scheduling for users. This study employed the waterfall model, which consists of six phases, including requirement, analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation. Visual Studio Code, for the coding process, and XAMPP control panel, for the development and testing of the system on a local web server, were utilized during the development of this research. During the testing period, functionality and usability tests were conducted, and based on the test results, the majority of users agree that this online appointment system is simple to use. In conclusion, this research has helped to simplify the appointment process for users of veterinary clinics, and it can be improved in the future by adding a payment gateway to the system to facilitate online banking payments.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116809475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It implies any type of fraudulent act among students such as paying another person to do the task, purchasing a class research paper, getting test questions before the date of an examination, or duplicating the finished work of another student that applies to formal academic exercises. This cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the practice of academic dishonesty among postgraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences, UKM KL. The McCabe Academic Integrity Questionnaire was adopted and distributed to the respondents. Results show that there is a low frequency of academic dishonesty involved among research and coursework postgraduate students and there are no significant differences between both modes of the study. Age and gender show a significant correlation with academic dishonesty practices among all four demographic factors studied.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131245741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many business organisations try to steer the customer's mind on the target brand and its advantage in the market. To determine whether the positioning of a certain brand is a success or not, a company should observe whether its brand is salient or not to the customers. Positioning or brand positioning includes choosing a particular product characteristic from the whole set of features associated with the brand. The main aim of this research is to determine the factors influencing the brand positioning of three-star hotels among residents in Kuala Terengganu. The first objective is to examine the relationship between the price and brand positioning of three-star hotels. The second objective is to determine the effect of brand image on the brand positioning of a three-star hotel. The third objective is to define the value of the brand positioning of a three-star hotel. The researcher disseminated 384 sets of questionnaires to 384 respondents in Kuala Terengganu and used SPSS version 20 to analyse the data. By using the data gathered, the researchers can produce frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson test correlation analysis, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and also the interpretation of objectives. The finding shows that two independent variables (price and brand image) have a significant relationship with the brand positioning of three stars hotels. Brand image is the vision of hotels in the industry more than what hotels' records show and the price represents the standard of service as perceived by the customers. Positioning is the use of marketing to project differentiation in the hotel and its services to targeted customers. Building and maintaining a strong brand positioning is critical in that it will help create a positive image and create unique perceptions among present and potential customers. A hotel with a positive brand positioning will transform a satisfied customer into loyal guests.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122588777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Language educators also were required to conduct online assessments. Using a collaborative autoethnography, we analysed our experiences on Emergency Remote Teaching as three language educators at three Malaysian higher education institutions during the COVID-19 epidemic. We were experts in traditional face-to-face classrooms but novices in online learning environments. The framework for our research was resilience theory. Resilience describes our ability to alter and adapt in the face of adversity. We employed theme analysis to evaluate our self-reflective field notes, which were supplemented with social media posts, from April 2020 to April 2021. Our findings indicate that four themes arose from our research. The findings suggest that four themes emerged from our study; i. strategies used during Emergency Remote Teaching, ii. multiple roles, iii. resiliency, and iv. challenges. The findings give insights into educators' tactics for adapting to the Emergency Remote Teaching environment, their many responsibilities, their resiliency, and the problems they experienced. We feel that our experiences with Emergency Remote Teaching have helped us become better competent language instructors who advocate the synergy of online and offline language study. Our research adds to a better understanding of the experiences that language educators had during Emergency Remote Teaching and the use of these experiences in higher education professional development. These findings are important for policymakers, administrators, and educators as they develop strategies and policies to assist educators in times of crisis.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125751320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many studies have shown that diet affects how the body regulates mood by influencing the release of neurotransmitters, but there are conflicting results when it comes to young adults. The aim of the present study is to determine dietary patterns and its relationship with mental health status in among university students. This study was conducted in the form of a cross-sectional analytical observation at UiTM Perlis. A total of 362 students provided the data using two types of questionnaires. The Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) was used to assess dietary patterns, and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) was used to assess mental health status. Results showed a high prevalence of irregular dietary patterns and mental health status in the sample. The Spearman correlation test revealed that there was no association between dietary habits and mental health status. Results also indicated that 71.3% of the students had a score below four, implying good mental health. However, 28.7% of the students were classified as having poor mental health. Our study highlights the irregularities in food intake among university students, most of whom had inadequate intakes of the recommended amounts. Therefore, the higher institution should perform studies on interventions to cope with changing dietary habits among students. However, their mental health portrayed status of good condition. This could be due to other factors that contribute to the occurrence of mental illness, including physiological, psychological, and social factors. These findings can be used by institutions to promote proper nutrition for this study population.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122354399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The shift in the teaching and learning mode elicited a variety of responses from students as they grappled with their mixed emotions of anguish and uneasiness pertaining to ODL. They displayed signs of mental anguish through several comments and status updates posted on social networking sites. Thus, to help ease the problems with students’ psychological well-being while utilising the ODL mode amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the researchers felt inclined to place more emphasis on recommendations from the perspectives of UiTM students in urban, suburban, and rural localities. A total of 1,931 students from all UiTM campuses responded to the DASS-21 online survey, which assessed their levels of depression, anxiety, and stress during ODL. Using Microsoft Excel software, the collected data were analysed, and all comments and recommendations provided by the respondents were then coded, categorised into themes and sub-themes, and reviewed to ensure accuracy. From 569 recommendations provided by the respondents on their perspectives on handling depression, anxiety, and stress, three major themes were identified: social support (value of peer support, expert support, significant person support, family support, and administrative assistance), self-care (need for self-management of emotions, spiritual and recreational activities, and outdoor activities), and learning environment (students’ learning preferences and in-person instruction). The results underline how crucial social support, self-care, and a supportive learning environment are for managing DAS. The findings are hoped to assist educational institutions in comprehending the types of resources and assistance they can provide to help students adjust to online education, even after the pandemic period.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121532907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
