The study focuses on using ECG data for heart disease classification, which is an area of growing interest in recent years. The study collected data from 1000 subjects using our designed system to collect the normal data (300 patients) and a Biopac MP160 data acquisition system for the collection of 10 diseases abnormal data, where all the data are acquired from lead 1. The aim of this study is to develop an accurate and reliable classification model for heart diseases using ECG data. Pre-processing steps were taken to prepare the data for feature extraction, including the use of Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and digital filters such as low pass, high pass, and derivative pass filters. A new feature extraction steps based on a new ECG peak detection, segmentation, and wave modeling for each segment is also presented. Two classification methods were used: Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Radial Basis Function (RBF). The results showed that MLP had a much higher accuracy of 99.1% compared to RBF, which had an accuracy of 97.4%. The study emphasizes the potential of using ECG data for accurate classification of heart diseases. The results demonstrate that proper pre-processing and feature extraction techniques are crucial for improving accuracy. This study is significant for remote patient monitoring and telemedicine applications, as it provides a low-cost, non-invasive method for detecting and classifying heart diseases using ECG data.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126640617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work tackles the case of incorporating experimental variability coming from experimental measurements into a deterministic model, ending up with an updated stochastic hybrid-twin of the investigated object. Moreover, the work proposes that a limited measurement on a limited part of a system of interest, can be used to extrapolate the enhanced stochastic model onto the complete system. Thus, the non-parametric probabilistic method (NPM) is used to built an enhanced updated stochastic model on a subsystem of a complete system, where the measurements are available. Later on, an online learning algorithm will extrapolate quasi-instantly the results into the complete system. A comparison on a simplified 1D beam model built using NPM on a complete system, and the one obtained by the proposed extrapolation technique from a subsystem, showcases the success of the suggested method.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"90 32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129861326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The multiple terminal users in this channel compete for limited radio resources to satisfy their own data rate needs. Because inter-user interference limits the transponder's performance, it is beneficial for the transponder's power-control system to coordinate all users in its channel to reduce interference and to improve performance. By the special properties of channel gain in this type of channel, a non-cooperative Differential Game (DG) is set up to study the competition in a transponder's channel. Each user's utility is a trade-off between transmission data rate and power consumption. Nash Equilibrium (NE) is defined to be the solution of the DG model. The optimality condition of NE is derived to be a system of Differential Algebraic Equations (DAE). An algorithm based on minimizing all users' Hamiltonian is developed to solve the DAE system. The numerical solution of the NE provides the transponder's power control system with each user's power-control strategy at the equilibrium.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125916829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unimodal biometric systems do, however, have security and accuracy issues. In order to increase accuracy, this article suggests a multimodal biometric authentication method that combines fingerprint, voice, face, and iris data. By minimizing the false acceptance rate (FAR) and false rejection rate (FRR), as well as by its higher accuracy when compared to existing techniques, the performance of the proposed technique is assessed. The article emphasizes the value of multimodal approaches to biometric authentication as well as how they could improve the precision and security of identification systems. The development of more dependable and robust biometric authentication systems is significantly impacted by the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123899775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the deep learning-powered applications recently emerged is called “deepfake”. Deepfake algorithms have recently been a controversial development in Artificial Intelligence, because they use deep learning to generate fake yet realistic content based on an input dataset. As a result, many are concerned with the potential risks in terms of cyber-security as it causes threats to privacy, democracy, and national security. Multiple techniques were proposed to detect deepfake videos, however most cannot cope with the variety of the deepfake generation techniques. Therefore, in this study, we optimize one of the best existing deepfake detection methods based on Xception model. In particular, our proposed optimization scheme consists of a pre-processing phase performing advanced image enhancement on the videos in hand for highlighting the face features for better feature extraction as well fake content detection, which is preceded by a close-up dataset cleansing. Our experiments show that the proposed pre-processing optimization scheme had improvemes the performance of the Xception Binary Classifier- Inference model from 94% to 96%.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132646184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research questions answered throughout this paper are two: the first one wonders if the Lebanese society and government are aware of the e-waste hazards and whether there is any action taken, on the governmental level, to avert an environmental catastrophe. Whereas the second one is concerned with finding out, what Lebanese think about e-waste and whether they are willing to fight against it? Answers to the first question resulted from interviews. The authors have visited Company A and NGO B, the first is concerned with collecting waste in greater Beirut while the second aims at spreading awareness to e-waste's dangers on governmental and social levels alike. Question two was discussed throughout surveys filled by random individuals from Lebanese society. The answers to both research questions came in a way that proves both hypotheses assumed at the beginning of the research, namely that e-waste poses a great threat to the Lebanese environment and that laws must be implemented to regulate collection and disposal of electronic appliances; also, e-cycling initiatives must be encouraged to reduce the quantities of generated e-waste. Hypothesis two if environment friendliness and affinity to right e-waste disposal depend on the educational level of any given citizen has been proven to be true while analyzing the answers in the survey.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130935671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of congestion is becoming more and more critical, and if not treated smartly this issue will negatively affect drivers by wasting time and fuel gas while waiting for hours in lanes. This paper presents a new and smart way to mitigate this issue in an affordable cost, minimum processing power, and low power consumption. This concept takes into consideration the majority of the cases that may cause congestion and presents a smart and accurate outputs to ease traffic flow leading to the prediction of the peak hours of traffic congestion for smarter control. A model is designed to study the case of a four lanes crossroad with two traffic lights and two LCD monitors. The strategy in reading data is divided into two parts: real data from sensors and pre collected data from google maps to create a kind of a predicted pattern over a certain time interval. The responsiveness of the system is analyzed thoroughly, and the accuracy of all possible cases is carefully considered and evaluated. Each part of the system was tested alone, and the overall system is still in an ongoing testing phase. The results have shown minimum faulty errors and accepted outputs that can lead to safe traffic control decisions. Finally, integrating more IoT devices and sensors between V2V, V2P, V2I with the help of artificial intelligence will definitely optimize this system with higher accuracy.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130968512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The XRD spectrum of the prepared ZnO indicates that it is a nanostructure. Pyroelectric films are prepared from PVDF and different percentages of prepared nano ZnO. The Pyroelectric coefficient, Dielectric Constant, and Conductivity of prepared films are measured to be used as inputs for the mathematical model that is created to obtain the optimal percentage of added nano ZnO to PVDF, determine the optimal thickness of the pyroelectric film, and study the effect of the film surface area on energy harvesting performance. It is found that the addition of nano ZnO to PVDF pyroelectric film has two effects on energy harvesting: positive and negative. The positive effect is an increasing pyroelectric coefficient, but the negative effect is an increasing dielectric constant. So the optimal percentage of adding nano ZnO is defined. The optimal value of the thickness of PVDF film, which has an optimal added ZnO percentage, is determined. The reduced surface area of the pyroelectric film increases energy conversion efficiency.","PeriodicalId":153723,"journal":{"name":"2023 Fifth International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130147894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
