Clutter may not always appear around zero Doppler frequency when realistic terrain models and moving platforms are considered. Two algorithms developed for clutter detection using range-Doppler matrix elements and their performance analysis are presented in this paper. The first algorithm has higher error rates but lower computational complexity whereas the second one has lower error rates but higher computational complexity. The algorithms detect clutter position by filtering range-Doppler matrix elements via non-linear filters.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128785899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, the array gain increases with increasing correlation at either side of the MIMO system. However, the bit error probability performance, i.e., the diversity gain, degrades with increasing correlation at either side of the MIMO system. However, the effects of correlation on the array and the diversity gains and the associated trade-offs are not yet investigated in doubly correlated MIMO channels. The contribution of this paper is to determine the correlation regions in doubly correlated MIMO channels providing the optimum trade-off between array and diversity gains.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126626780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additive noise benefits are observed also in parameter estimation problems based on quantized observations. In this study, the purpose is to find the optimal probability density function of additive noise, which is applied to observations before quantization, in those problems. First, optimal probability density function of noise is formulated in terms of an average Fisher information maximization problem. Then, it is proven that optimal additive “noise” can be represented by a constant signal level. This result, which means that randomization of additive signal levels is not needed for average Fisher information maximization, is supported with two numerical examples.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121680267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, communication channel is assumed to be a single-input single-output (SISO) system in most of these studies. There is no blind channel equalization method for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) unknown channel case. In this study, we propose an adaptive blind channel equalization algorithm for MIMO chaotic communication systems. In MIMO communication system, multiuser interference (MUI) is an important factor as well as intersymbol interference (ISI) that hinders receiver performance. To increase receiver performance and achieve reliable, high-speed communication a novel method that overcome the effect of ISI and MUI is developed. The effectiveness of proposed algorithm is demonstrated by computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123865775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to reduce decoding complexity, Zigzag codes, a class of error-correcting codes, are developed. A concatenated Zigzag encoder has several encoders connected by several interleavers. Research on secure medical image transmission reported in the literature has two objectives. Providing integrity and authentication of the transferred image is one the objectives. Hiding electronic patient records on images to both save bandwidth and storage requirement is the other goal. Fragile watermarking techniques are used to satisfy both objectives. However, there are two security issues inherent in these techniques. The first issue is about single medium carrying watermarked image. This renders the method vulnerable since the image cannot be recovered without errors if the medium is corrupted intentionally during transmission. Lack of confidence to a single receipent is the second issue since it may result in a leakage of medical records. Confidentiality is improved if a significant military, political or commercial person's medical records is shared among a number of participants. Secret Sharing Scheme proposed by Shamir in 1979 is used to share medical images and electronic patient records among a number of participants in this paper. Therefore, two security issues about secure transmission of medical images mentioned by researchers in the literature will be eliminated.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"1157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126984314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
