This study was done to identify clinical features commonly associated with scrub typhus during COVID pandemics, parameters associated with severe scrub typhus and mortality. Methods: This retrospective study was done in a tertiary care hospital with a total of 52 admitted scrub typhus positive patients in October 2020 to February 2022. Diagnosis was established by scrub IgM ELISA or Rapid antigen test. The clinical and laboratory data, duration of hospital stay and outcomes were collected. Common clinical and laboratory findings were of descriptive analysis. Factors associated with mortality were analysed using Chi-square test. Results: Fever was the most common presenting symptoms on admission (94.2%) followed by respiratory abnormalities (38.46%). Acute kidney injury was the most common organ failure on admission (67.3%), followed by acute liver injury (46.2%) and thrombocytopenia (32.7%). MODS was seen in 46.15%. Of the total, 30.8% were admitted in ICU. Mortality was seen in 7.7% of all patients. On Chi-square analysis, altered mental status and coagulopathy were associated with significant mortality with p value <0.05. Conclusion: Scrub typhus can manifest with potentially life-threatening complications such as acute kidney injury, acute liver injury, thrombocytopenia and MODS. The overall case-fatality rate was 7.7%, and presence of altered mental status and coagulopathy were associated with higher mortality. As per literature, COVID has changed few clinical profiles of scrub typhus compared to same center experience before.","PeriodicalId":15222,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Research","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48095399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients were treated with a triple drug therapy: ivermectin 12 mg once a week, hydroxychloroquine 400 mg twice a day on the first day and 200 mg twice a day for the next 4 days, and azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 5 days. Endpoints were assessed by clinical outcomes, death, negative SARS-CoV-2 RNA-PCR test on the tenth day, and length of the hospital stay.Results: All patients improved except one 70-year-old female, who died on the third day of admission. The clinical outcome was considered good as 95.24% (80/84) of patients presented a negative SARS-CoV-2 RNA-PCR test on the tenth day of admission and 90.48% (76/84) were discharged in stable condition.Conclusions: The response must focus on immediate isolation of COVID-19 patients and their early treatment to prevent irreversible severe respiratory injury. Our study shows the beneficial effect of triple drug therapy in terms of clinical recovery, shorter duration of viral carriage, community spread prevention, and minimal cost of therapy.","PeriodicalId":15222,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"61-68"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69631810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has a negative impact on social union and access to public administrations and institutions that house people's socially stimulating groups of individuals. The suspension or reduction of activities in temples, childcare centers, schools, and social insurance administrations, as well as the shifting of needs in healthcare administrations to activities, focused on patients with respiratory side effects and cases associated and confirmed with COVID-19, endangers the quest for assistance, assurance, and alternatives. Each of these factors accentuates the consistency and disarray of previous conditions of viciousness. The length of time spent in touch with the attacker is a critical element at the social level. In addition, due to the reduction in the casualty's social contact with family members, the chances of the woman establishing and strengthening a socially supportive network of individuals, seeking assistance, and breaking free from the vicious cycle are reduced. Day by day, continuous interaction, especially in low-wage families living in cramped quarters with few rooms and a lot of traffic, reduces the chances for women to record demonstrations in a safe manner, discouraging them from making this option. One problem that has received little attention from analysts, directors, and other members of the COVID-19 emergency panels is the impact of social separation on relational relationships, especially between intimate partners and between guardians and children, which is discussed in this debate. Global association specialists and the established press have expressed concern over evidence of increasing aggressive behaviour at home, where the home has frequently become a source of fear and mistreatment due to previous social removing circumstances and the unexpected increase in reports of viciousness in the pandemic's specific situation.","PeriodicalId":15222,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"245-257"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69629260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As of June 15, 2021, over 4 million people have died from COVID-19 globally. Cases still remain in some parts of the world, like India, where less than 40% population has been vaccinated yet. Patients with comorbidities are more likely to acquire COVID-19 and experiencing poor clinical outcomes. The \"heart\" is one of the vital organs affected by COVID-19. Examples of major cardiovascular diseases that can compromise getting severely ill from COVID-19 include heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, and pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure, stroke, and more. According to the current data, ischemic heart disease also known as coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the causes of more severe COVID-19 illness with greater mortality. Since COVID-19 is a novel disease based on previous experience with respiratory infections, patients with CHD should be given special attention, otherwise, it may lead to death. A cardioprotective diet and balanced nutrition which can also help in maintaining immunity are some of the essential strategies for the prevention and management of CHD patients during COVID-19 and other viral infections. Therefore, this review aimed to provide an appropriate nutritional recommendation and supplementation in the management of CHD patients during viral infections with perspectives for COVID-19 (for both who can take orally or via enteral tube feeding).","PeriodicalId":15222,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"982-991"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69629767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
