The pathogenesis of IBD is multifaceted, involving genetic predisposition, environmental triggers, and dysregulation of the immune response. Recent research has illuminated the pivotal role of gut microbiota dysbiosis in the development and perpetuation of IBD. The human gut harbors a complex and dynamic ecosystem of microorganisms that profoundly influences host health and disease. Alterations in the composition, diversity, and function of the gut microbiota, termed dysbiosis, have been consistently linked to IBD. Shifts in microbial composition, reduction in microbial diversity, and imbalances in beneficial versus pathogenic microorganisms characterize the dysbiotic state associated with IBD.The intricate interplay between the host immune system and the gut microbiota is a key determinant in IBD pathogenesis. Dysbiosis triggers aberrant immune responses, leading to chronic mucosal inflammation and tissue damage. Furthermore, dysbiotic alterations disrupt essential microbial-derived metabolites and signaling molecules crucial for gut homeostasis, further exacerbating the disease. Advancements in high-throughput sequencing technologies and metagenomic analysis have enabled comprehensive characterization of microbial communities in IBD, uncovering microbial signatures and functional pathways associated with disease phenotypes and treatment responses. Therapeutic interventions targeting the gut microbiota, such as probiotics, prebiotics, fecal microbiota transplantation, and microbial-based therapies, have shown promise in preclinical and clinical studies for modulating dysbiosis and ameliorating IBD symptoms. \u0000Keywords: Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Dysbiosis, Fecal microbiota, Probiotics","PeriodicalId":15193,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research","volume":"67 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139448820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This plant is well-explored for its fruit but the potential of its leaves is still unexplored. Thus, the present study focuses on pharmacognostical and pharmacological evaluation of leaves of Citrullus lanatus. In pharmacognostical evaluation, all macroscopic, microscopic, qualitative, quantitative and microbiological analysis were performed. In pharmacological evaluation, the study mainly focuses on the potential of leaves for antioxidant and antidiabetic activities. The antioxidant activity has been performed by various methods such as DPPH and phospho-molybdenum method. The antidiabetic activity has been performed by non-enzymatic glycosylation of hemoglobin assay method, glucose uptake in yeast cells method, alpha amylase inhibition assay method and alpha glucosidase inhibition assay method. The results of antioxidant activity shows that the plant extract possess good free radical scavenging properties due to the presence of vitamin C, polyphenol and flavonoid content. The results of antidiabetic activity by non-enzymatic glycosylation method shows that the plant extract of C. lanatus exhibit significant inhibition of glycosylation as compared with standard drug alpha tocopherol. In glucose uptake by yeast cells method, the extract showed greater efficiency in increasing the glucose uptake by yeast cells as compared to standard drug acarbose. In alpha amylase inhibition method, Alpha amylase inhibitors bind to alpha bond of polysaccharide and prevent breakdown of polysaccharide in mono and disaccharide which shows significant activity of plant extract as compared to an acarbose standard drug. Thus from the above findings, it can be concluded that C. lanatus leaves possess a great potential for antioxidant and antidiabetic activity and this plant should be more researched and formulation should be marketed in the recent future.

In this investigation, we explore the intricate interplay between radiation heat transfer, the unique rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluids, and the resulting fluid dynamics and heat transfer phenomena. Non-Newtonian fluids, characterized by their nonlinear relationship between shear stress and shear rate, exhibit behavior that deviates from traditional Newtonian fluids. This departure introduces complexity into the heat transfer process when subjected to radiation heat flux. The vertical plate, a common boundary encountered in practical engineering scenarios, serves as a platform for examining these interactions.
