In order to improve the testing efficiency, the converter under test and the emulating converter are normally powered by the same power supply. Under this structure, there exists zero-sequence current path in the testing system. Thus, undesired current harmonics, instability, and extra losses may be introduced. Basically, these zero-sequence harmonics can be divided into low-order harmonics related to the fundamental frequency, and high-order ripples related to the switching frequency. The mechanisms and influences of the high-order ripples are focused on and analyzed in this paper. Sampling distortions will be induced, and thus, control errors will be triggered by certain control strategies. Simulations and experiments are provided to validate the analysis. Possible solutions to avoid the sampling distortions and control errors are also concluded and discussed.","PeriodicalId":151155,"journal":{"name":"2023 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE 2023 - ECCE Asia)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115938921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the cluster voltage synthesis method based on the conventional triangular carrier wave of phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PSPWM) is applied, the quality of the cluster output voltage differs depending on the parity (which is the property of an integer of whether it is even or odd) of the number of cells per cluster. These differences of the output voltage quality are caused by the different effective level of cluster output voltage under the conventional triangular carrier based PSPWM. In other words, the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the cluster output voltage is indirectly related to the number of levels of the cluster output voltage. In this paper, the THD of the cluster output voltage is analyzed according to the relationship between the number of cells per cluster and the type of the carrier. In addition, the recommended carrier type for PSPWM is determined by whether the number of cells per cluster is odd or even. To demonstrate the analysis and comparison in this paper, a full-scale real-time simulation has been conducted.","PeriodicalId":151155,"journal":{"name":"2023 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE 2023 - ECCE Asia)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124544703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the modulation index increasing, SM capacitor voltage ripple will be greater, even destabilize the system. In order to keep balance and ensure the output voltage quality, an accurate and comprehensive analysis of capacitor voltage ripple is important. This paper provides a detailed analysis of capacitor voltage ripple characteristics segmentally, and derives the balanced operating boundary. On this basis, the relationship between capacitor voltage ripple, the modulation index and power factor angle are discussed, and two types of capacitor voltages ripple are proposed. Moreover, their maximum and minimum values are derived. Finally, simulation and experiments are implemented under different over-modulation conditions, and the influence of nearest level modulation (NLM) and phase disposition pulse-width modulation (PD-PWM) on capacitor voltage ripple is compared in experiments.","PeriodicalId":151155,"journal":{"name":"2023 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE 2023 - ECCE Asia)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114441375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented algorithm is designed for an MT-MVDC distribution network and takes into account the PF equations of both generic ac/dc and dc/dc converters. The MVDC PF study is the main focus and the power losses of voltage source converters (VSCs) & dc/dc converters are considered for accurately deriving the dc powers at MVDC links. The proposed algorithm only requires to define a single dc power or current bus type, hence the bus type definition is simplified and the solution of multiple sub-Jacobian matrices can be avoided. A binary search method is employed to correct the estimated initial dc power/current values, which contributes to the searching time reduction. Although an external correction iteration is required in the dc PF derivation, the proposed algorithm still improves on the computation efficiency in comparison with coupled sequential ac/dc PF algorithms. An MT-MVDC distribution network incorporated into IEEE 14 bus system verifies the validity and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":151155,"journal":{"name":"2023 11th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE 2023 - ECCE Asia)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114831328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the operating current of the laser diode was operated at the high-frequency PWM, the parasitic elements on the GaN HEMT, laser diodes, print-circuit board (PCB), and power wires influence the rising-edge slope of the laser operating current. To realize the USPM module, USPM controller was developed which has very high speed A/D converter and high specification SoC-FPGA chip, ultra high speed control calculation can be realized. In this paper, a new space vector PWM (SVPWM) method that improves the transient response and robustness by 10MHz sampling between carriers and compensating the output vector in real time. However, existing discrete photodiode solutions have encountered bottlenecks with increasing monitoring parameters and decreasing sampling delays. This work proposes a SiC device status monitoring scheme based on the integrated miniature hyperspectral spectrometer. Convolutional smoothing and partial least squares regression are applied to the obtained hyperspectral data sets. The real-time online monitoring of junction temperature and device current is achieved under low signal-to-noise ratios where the device only emits light in the dead time.
