Driver assistance systems, previously only intended for yaw stabilization, are now being extended to incorporate rollover mitigation via braking. Preventing this kind of accident requires the knowledge of the rollover index which depends on the vehicle dynamic states and other parameters. In this paper we estimate vehicle dynamic states in presence of the road bank angle as disturbance in the vehicle model. Roll angle and roll rate are used to compute the rollover index which is based on the prediction of the lateral load transfer. The used nonlinear model deduced from the vehicle lateral and roll dynamics is represented by a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The proposed observer is designed with unmeasurable premise variables. Stability conditions of such observers are given in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI). This system consists of a robot, a programmable automaton and a computer. The execution of different tasks must be done with respect to some temporal constraints. So, we use the temporal Petri nets to model the whole system and also its verification. We describe the obtained Petri net and the constraints textually or graphically in the open source TINA environment. The studied problem is a consequence of a wrong functioning. We try two approaches to solve it: the first one is behavioral-like, it makes a review of tasks scheduling, it is based on the priorities granting to specific transitions in order to fire some transitions before others; while the second one is structural-like, and it introduces some changes to the net structure with respect of the specification of the system. The obtained results show that the problem of accumulated tokens in a Petri net is not deeply related to a scheduling problem, but it is a structural problem. These two approaches can be combined into a hybrid one. Finally, we try to offer an efficient optimization solution, considering that the process has a nonlinear multivariable structure. The variable capacity problem, which arises in wireless network scenarios, is addressed by incorporating the link model into the MDP formulation and by introducing, beside the standard call admission policy, a call dropping policy. The proposed approach is capable of controlling class-level quality of service in terms of both blocking and dropping probabilities. However, the use of networks in the control loop induces extra difficulties in diagnosis. In this paper we propose a method for estimate fault as well delay induced by the network. Inspired from the Kalman filter previously proposed by Sinopoli et al. and Hsieh et al., two solutions are presented; the augmented and the two-stage Kalman filter. Main attention is paid for the last one. The delay and the fault are integrated as a state variable. It is supposed that the delay and the fault are random variables. In addition, we provide some analytic results to demonstrate the computational advantages of two-stage Kalman filter over augmented ones. A Model Predictive Control (MPC) framework is chosen to utilize the existing production controller by adjusting its reference points, thereby lowering its impact on the system. The MPC arrives at a control law by minimizing a quadratic cost function of control effort and tracking error while enforcing hard and soft constraints. Prognostic information is included in the cost function through the use of soft constraints whereas absolute boundary conditions (eg. input limits, tracking error) are incorporated as hard constraints. A relationship is provided between the terminal cost associated with the prognostic constraints and the quadratic costs. Asymptotic stability of the control architecture is demonstrated for the case of nominal system dynamics. The proposed fault-tolerant control design is applicable to a variety of application domains. A robust control technique based on the solution of a Riccati equation is adopted to design a state feedback excitation controller which guarantees both stability and voltage regulation objectives. The control objectives are achieved in spite of the presence of unknown bounded L1 disturbances in the power system model. This approach is based on the vector control strategy by replacing the existing conventional controller with a Backstepping control in order to more quickly bring back the q-axis flux towards zero and to reduce the effect of the motor parameters variations. To observe the rotor flux, we have introduced an observer based on the Backstepping theory provided with an adaptive mechanism of rotor resistance. Based on a nonquadratic Lyapunov function, sufficient stability conditions, that guarantee a tracking error as small as possible, are given in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The main advantage of the proposed design, is that a reduced order fuzzy controller is derived in one-step without significant numerical burden. In order to show the applicability of the proposed scheme, an illustrative example which, deals with the output voltage regulation of a DC-DC buck converter, is investigated.
