TNF α and myeloperoxidase (MPO) in fetal kidney tissue were detected by ELISA and biochemically respectively, and the renal histopathological changes were also observed.Results The activity of TNT α increased gradually with the extension of ischemia, especially after 35~45 minutes (P 0.05) .It rose progressively during reperfusion and was at its highest after 8 hours (P0.01) .It reached the level of the sham operation group after 30 hours reperfusion .The activity of MPO changed as that of TNF α . The activity of MPO reached the peak in 15 hours of reperfusion (P0.01) . Histological changes were most prominent after 15 hours reperfusion, including vascular congestion, tubular vacuolar degeneration or necrosis and neutrophil accumulation basement membrane breakdown, especially in proximal end of tubules.Conclusions There is inflammatory reaction in renal injury induced by intrauterine ischemia and reperfusion, TNF α may be one of important mediator and MPO can reflect the degree of inflammatory reaction.","PeriodicalId":14986,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89169909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods The survival rates of cultural fetal cortical neurons were tested and the influence of adding BDNF to the culture medium on survival rates was observed though trypanblue dye; the activity of the cortical neurons was detected using MTT. Results We observed that BDNF could protect the cortical neurons from hypoxia induced neurotoxicity by preincubating the neurons before 24 hours with BDNF and adding BDNF to the cultured neurons just before exposing them to hypoxic cultural environment.The survival rate of the cortical neurons was significantly reduced after exposing to hypoxia environment, while pre incubation of the cortical neurons with BDNF before 24hr and just before exposing to hypoxia showed much higher survival rates than that of the control group in terms of preventing hypoxia neurotoxicity. So this protection was time dependent.Conclusions In vitro, BDNF plays an important role in preventing cortical neurons from hypoxia induced neurotoxicity.","PeriodicalId":14986,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86046653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results The type I fibers,slow twitch fibers,were found to occupy a significantly higher ratio(70.92%)than controls( 57.93% ),and were often gathered to form type grouping.Ultra structural damages were found in all of the specimens. Conclusion It is suggested that these abnormalities are one of the factors a which cause spastic contraction of muscles without long term effects by surgical treatment.The reason which leads to transformation of the fiber types needs further investigation.","PeriodicalId":14986,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics","volume":"378 1","pages":"8-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80616820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
