In a highly competitive society, orientation towards performance and the attainment of very high standards coincide with the necessity to create a perfect “self” for the child. In this context dominated by the interest to create optimised children, we can talk about the development of a type of behaviour with perfectionist tendencies, whose consequences have started to draw the researchers’ attention during the past decades. Although perfectionism can be both positive and negative, research findings have shown that there are numerous factors that contribute to the development of maladaptive perfectionism in children, even from an early school age. The purpose of this research was to focus on the positive side of this personality trait by measuring the connection between the independent variable of perfectionism and the dependent variable of school performance, by also taking into consideration variables such as the parents’ influence and the competitive spirit in the educational background. To this effect, the instrument we used to measure positive perfectionism was the Questionnaire on Orderliness [Q3 factor: Perfectionism] on a sample of 101 participants, both parents and children, whereas the instrument we used for competitiveness was the Competitiveness Scale Questionnaire [HICs] on a sample of 51 subjects, consisting only of fourth graders. The obtained data were organized in Excel spreadsheets based on the Pearson correlation coefficient, in order to establish the connection between the variables. The main result of this research is that the subjects focus on quantitative results and on developing strategies to get higher grades, rather than on an efficient learning process. This study has opened up numerous research opportunities on the topic of perfectionism in the young schoolchildren.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124770314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

School dropout entails prematurely leaving the education system before the compulsory educational stage is over and prior to getting a qualification or professional training. School dropout is triggered by both internal and external factors. Contemporary society no longer considers school important in our personal development as human beings. But how would this society look like if all of us would stop regarding education and culture as fundamental values? Taking into account that education is free, it must be understood as anyone’s right to appropriate abilities, skills, and knowledge needed to find a job and integrate in a group.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"250 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115018487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of our previous studies have analysed the values that aimed teachers from different generations. Present study was interested to focus to the process of becoming teacher, building professional identity for his profession during educational path. For this purpose, we have analysed the way that our students, pre-service teachers (for preschool and primary school children), have chosen their educational (and professional) path, which were significant persons that have influenced their development and what aimed them for teacher career choose and if (and how) they have developed during studies their professional (pre)identity. Education and training of inmates help reduce the social costs of crime. People outside of the prison environment have the luxury, or better yet freedom, of choosing the reason for pursuing a form of education or training, whilst for prisoners it is predetermined. Given that its final scope is the reintegration of prisoners into society as full functioning citizens, the right to education becomes an obligation to the state to guarantee the access to the resources available. Thus, the complexity of this right can be better seen in the prison environment, as its final purpose is to ensure that discipline and order are maintained in society.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"22 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120972725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, the background of the problem will be analyzed in an introduction that will emphasize the importance of this possible correlation in the current school context dominated by the new mental organization of digital students. Then they will be analyzed among the fundamental elements of a research. First of all, the choice of appropriate research tools, which will combine qualitative and quantitative research. Secondly, it is a discussion about the purposes of researching the mentioned correlation, the basic questions, the objectives, the sample and, finally, about the ways of analyzing the data and the necessary conclusions.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130172625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scientific knowledge has recently become, thanks to technological development and the increasingly computerized era, a way of life in which the skills to understand and handle the applications and software increasingly present in everyday life have become inherent requirements of a life quality. Therefore, there is a need for education based on scientific knowledge to be much more present in the school curriculum of the students who will form tomorrow's society. Perhaps one of the most effective means by which students benefit from a science education is the systematic stimulation of native curiosity. We show some ethological and neurological foundations of curiosity that we consider sufficient for a reformulation of standard pedagogy.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121271515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These days, in reality, parents spend less and less time with their children, as they are busy with their jobs, and, consequently, in the absence of the parents who are supposed to supervise them, little ones take refuge in the latest technological developments, i.e., phone, tablet and computer. I dedicate this study to the teachers, parents and to all those interested in how they can use their time efficiently and in how this influences the division of tasks and responsibilities in a family so that it may function in a balanced way, develop harmonious relationships and a healthy emotional state.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128549445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More, sometimes, young people manifest their tendency to relativize their addiction on media or to integrate their addition through common behaviours, making it trivial. Thinking that students’ addition on new media indicate the lack of personal discipline, we believe that one of today teacher responsibilities is to find strategies and create learning contexts that help them to develop self-discipline. In consequence, we have proposed a pedagogic experiment – “online disconnection” and group solidarity – to our students (Sciences of Education, specialization Pedagogy). They have been kept a reflexive journal during experimental period. Through significant results we have found some advantages of their online disconnection: more time to do enjoyable and useful activities, a positive affective estate, re-discovering the pleasure for reading, raising motivation for specialty literature and gradual detachment from new media addiction, group solidarity.","PeriodicalId":149715,"journal":{"name":"Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127395731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
