The serial and parallel active power filters fed with energy by PV panels are used together in the PV-UPQC system. In the proposed controller, measurement values are taken from four different points of the power system. The obtained values and DC voltage generated by PV panels are used to calculate the reference current and voltage values. PWM signals of switches used in active filters are produced using moving average filter and space vector-PWM. The algorithm used in both filters consists of two parts. The first is the mppt algorithm, in which the maximum voltage is obtained from the PV panels, and the second is the SRF-based proposed algorithm, where the reference current or voltage is obtained. Simulation and experimental studies of the proposed controller are applied. When the results obtained are examined, the proposed controller for three-phase PV-UPQC gives better results than the traditional SRF based controller in attenuation of harmonics in current and voltage.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122167337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is no direct research to examine the interaction between the variables affecting the COVID-19 disease. In this study, the log-linear models are used to explore the significant interactions between the country, gender and age variables. Empirical findings of the presented study show that the main effects are found statistically significant for country, gender and age variables. The two-way interactions between the gender and country and between the interaction of the country and age are found statistically significant. The risk of the China for catching the COVID-19 disease is 1.7 times higher than the risk of the South Korea for catching the COVID-19 disease. The risk of male individuals is 1.2 times higher than the risk of female individuals for catching the COVID-19 disease. Additionally, the individuals having the 41-60 age group has higher risk than the individuals having 70 and above age group. We believe that the empirical results of the presented study will be helpful to the policymakers for decreasing the spread of the COVID-19 disease.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131904346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to assess the fit of Cox regression model since it has a key assumption called proportional hazards. Violation of this assumption induces an invalid model and changes the interpretation of the results. When the objective is the risk prediction, various machine learning methods can be good alternatives to Cox regression model due to their flexible structure. In this study, Turkish breast cancer data set is used to compare the predictive performance of Cox regression model and ensemble machine learning methods. Integrated Brier score is used to measure the predictive performance of candidate models. Based on case study results, machine learning methods are promising alternatives for survival prediction.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122068974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the usage of these vehicles becomes widespread, the development of controller structures which allow the UAV’s to follow a specified trajectory precisely is a new area of interest for researchers. In this work, nonlinear mathematical model of a four-rotor UAV is obtained. In order to obtain the mathematical model of UAV Newton-Euler equations are used. In the trajectory tracking system of this vehicle, second order sliding mode controller (SOSMC) is designed. Inside of the controller, control process is divided into two subsystems in order to provide position and attitude control. SOSMC is applied to the fully actuated and under actuated subsystems individually. In the next step, coefficients of the SOSMC is determined with optimum characteristic equation. Based on the reference study, boundaries of the predefined characteristic equation is obtained. Later, appropriate values are observed. In final part, simulation results are obtained, and the results are compared with the reference study. As a result, Optimum Characteristic equation results proved its robustness according to the smaller steady state error and more precise flight performance in trajectory. In this study simulation results are obtained using Simulink/MATLAB environment.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125949402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proximate analysis of the carbon-containing materials and investigating the effectiveness of the heat treatments on the material are a particularly time-consuming process. This work presents the four regression methods, i.e., decision tree regression, support vector regression and two versions of ensembles of decision trees to predict the proximate analysis of biomass and heat treatment temperature. Thus, effective method has been proposed to reduce experimental effort and present the characterization of heat-treated biomass feedstock theoretically. Prediction results show that SVR and ENS2 regression methods calibrating the NIR spectra to the values of wood pellet properties achieved good performance with the coefficient of determination (R 2 ) of 0.880- 0.984 and RMSE of 0.444- 5.308 for ash and volatile matter. This study suggests that machine learning-based regression methods with integrated NIR spectroscopy of biomass is promising as an alternative method for rapid characterization. Another possible application of the current study is that it can be used for processed fuel recognition prior to a fully automated fuel quality assessment system in the biomass industry.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113985791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite being successfully applied in various studies, new reliable evaluation tools are still needed to assess the quality of the generated game content. One example limitation of procedurally generated game worlds is the lacking spatial configuration. To address this issue, in this study, an assessment method was developed to evaluate the spatial quality of procedurally generated game worlds. For this purpose, Space Syntax was used, which incorporates a set of methods to analyze spatial configurations and movement. The analyses were applied to a new game developed by the authors —the Haunted House— and the performance was evaluated in terms of integration, connectivity, and depth distance. Results show that changing the room dimensions (i.e., 15x15, 25x25, and 35x35 units) modifies the performance measures as well as game design parameters —number of the spawning points (ranging from 1 to 4), critical axes (1 to 5), to name a few. The proposed approach is a first attempt to create various improved spatial configurations and provide an evaluation tool to analyze the PCG algorithms in level design.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115131954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conventional bootstrapping obtains random bootstrap samples by using all the units in the original sample. Balanced bootstrapping based on having individual observations with equal overall frequencies in all bootstrap samples and sufficient bootstrapping based on using only the distinct individual observations instead of all the units in the original sample are the two basic attempts proposed in this manner. This study compares the balanced, sufficient and conventional bootstrapping approaches in terms of efficiency, bootstrap confidence interval coverage accuracy, and average interval length. Although sufficient bootstrapping approach resulted in more efficient estimators and the narrower confidence intervals than the other two in all cases, none of the actual coverage level of confidence intervals was controlled within the desired limits. Conventional and balanced bootstrapping approaches have given quite similar results in terms of efficiency, coverage accuracy and average length.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114601971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially for the studies that start with conceptual models, the validation process is more complex than others. In this study, we used a multi-methodology approach to develop a framework to support the conceptual model development and validation in System Dynamics (SD) modeling. In the proposed framework, we integrated methods from SD methodology with methods from the Analytic Network Process (ANP). The proposed framework was then used for clinical laboratory performance analysis. The purpose was to use the proposed framework to conduct structural validity of the SD model, to prioritize Clinical Laboratory (CL) performance indicators, and capture their relations. Results indicate that the proposed framework can be used to generate an enriched and validated conceptual model for a CL performance system that can be useful for healthcare decision-makers. Also, the proposed multi-methodology framework can be applied to any complex systems to validate the conceptual models.","PeriodicalId":149663,"journal":{"name":"Mugla Journal of Science and Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123154139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
