The mathematical model of PMSM is expressed in an arbitrary rotating reference frame and no knowledge of initial rotor position is needed. The developed algorithm is based on sliding mode observer (SMO) theory and consists of two discrete steps: flux/current and speed/position estimation. Also, Lyapunov functions are suitably chosen for determining the adaptive laws for the stator resistance and the speed estimators. First stator flux/current and resistance error converges to zero and afterwards speed and position estimation is carried out using a modified back electromotive force (EMF) observer. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed estimation method.","PeriodicalId":149421,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117007714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operation of this device in a SMPS application is shown in detail, and results regarding electrical and thermal characteristics in comparison to the power MOSFET device solution are discussed. The experimental tests that have been carried out are targeted to show the suitability of this device when a 1000-1500 V operation is required and a single switch topology is the most appropriate. Some remarks about the driving circuit adopted for the cascode are also reported.","PeriodicalId":149421,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117071019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the parameters of a multi-mass system are often uncertain or can change. A robust Hinfin-control is a powerful tool in order to control systems with varying parameters. Unfortunately, the complex structure and the mathematical theory prevent known Hinfin-controllers from usage in many industrial applications. In this work two modern evolutionary algorithms, differential evolution (DE) and particle swarm optimization (PSO), are used to optimize a standard PI cascade control structure with respect to the Hinfin-norm, thus resulting in a robust control of simple structure.","PeriodicalId":149421,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117194280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is solved by using the theory of the optimal control. An algorithm, based on the new technique, proposed by the authors in [1], to overcome the difficulties of specifying the weighting matrices Q and R, is presented. The algorithm here proposed considers the multi-area electric energy system. The paper presents illustrative, numerical simulation results for this model. In almost all of these cases, the exact orientation of satellite antennas toward the earth station is crucial. In this paper the attitude control system of the satellite will be designed in such a way that one specific point of the satellite will be always accurately oriented towards the earth station. In this way, to have the required quantity of the angular momentum, the use of momentum wheel actuator and magnetic torque generators are proposed. Three distinct modes are defined for a full positioning of the satellite to the desired direction; detumbling mode, spin-up of momentum wheel mode and the normal mode. In the first, the target is to decrease the angles phi and psi and their time rate phidot and dotpsidot. This will be done by designing a PD controller in roll and yaw directions. The control torque is applied to the satellite body to achieve the desired control. In the second mode, the momentum wheel speed will be increased so high that the changes in phi, thetas and psi and their time rate phidot thetasdotdot and dotpsidot are minimized and this gives the requested stability in the pitch direction. In the normal mode, the satellite should be oriented towards earth and hold its direction, during which phi, thetas and psi should be zero.","PeriodicalId":149421,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124124757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed switching table is synthesized by analyzing the instantaneous active and reactive power correction. For this reason, and based on the sign and magnitude of the change in instantaneous active and reactive power, the best converter switching state allowing smooth control of active and reactive power simultaneously during each sector is selected. The dc-bus voltage is maintained at the required level by controlling active power to be constant and equal to its reference value. The unity power factor (UPF) operation of the converter is achieved by maintaining the reactive power zero during all sectors. Simulation and experimental results have proven that the proposed DPC is much better than the classical one and verify the validity and performance of the presented DPC.","PeriodicalId":149421,"journal":{"name":"2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124500646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
