Since SAW sensors are powered by the energy of the RF field no battery is required, which is a major drawback of conventional microcontroller based telemetry systems. A successful combination of a SAW reflective delay line with a high-Q capacitive pressure sensor is shown. With a new way of matching the sensor impedance to the SAW reflector impedance both a high signal-to-noise ratio and a high signal dynamic are achieved which supports accurate signal evaluation. The proposed bandpass filter can provide an attenuation pole due to the resonance characteristic of the DGS. The equivalent circuit parameters for the DGS are extracted by using an EM simulation process and the circuit analysis method. The design method for the proposed 3-pole bandpass filter is derived based on coupled line filter theory and the derived equivalent circuit of the DGS. This almost-constant stopband is maintained down to DC for highpass types and to at least twice the cutoff frequency for lowpass configurations. Conceptually, the structures are analogous to Mobius strips. The path length of the edge in a Mobius strip is twice an length of the edge of the rectangle deformed in creating the Mobius strip geometry. Analogously, this means the structure can be at resonance even though the length of the line, before deformation, was a half wavelength long. The concept has been demonstrated in planar geometries and in wire-loaded cavity structures. The amplifier produces an available power gain significantly higher than conventional distributed amplifiers (CDA) using the same number of active devices. Simulation results show the advantage of the proposed amplifier over the conventional one. Measured results for two versions of the 4-CSSDA were achieved and show a good performance of high gain, gain flatness, input and output matching, flat group delays and low noise figure across 1-10 GHz bandwidth. First level metallization is used to equalize the ground planes, hence to suppress the unwanted coupled-slot-line mode propagation. This addition necessitates additional compensation of signal lines to improve the return losses. Fabricated CMOS chips are post-processed with a two-step procedure. First, a thick polyimide film is screen-printed on the devices as a stress-compensation. Then, the silicon substrate is selectively removed underneath the devices. The measured responses show very good agreement with simulations. One aimed at not only steep skirt but also low insertion loss and low group delay deviation by 16 resonators, while another focused on extreme steep skirt performance by 32 resonators. These filters were fabricated using YBCO films on a half area and on a full area of a 3-inch diameter MgO wafer respectively.
