Two novel filter structures are presented in this paper that employs this concept; one employs planar type resonators and the other employs dielectric resonators. A new configuration for a single mode dielectric resonator is also proposed in this paper. The use of such type of resonators makes it possible to construct dielectric resonator filters that are much smaller in size than conventional TE/sub 01/ single mode resonators. Measured and theoretical results are presented to verify the concepts proposed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":149404,"journal":{"name":"2000 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. In this paper, we demonstrate beam-steering arrays using reconfigurable periodic structures in the ground plane without solid-state phase shifters. A linearly discrete beam-steering of 35/spl deg/ in steps of approximately 6/spl deg/ has been achieved at a fixed frequency of 5.6 GHz. The main beam power varied less than 2 dB over the whole range of beam-steering. A frequency-dependent beam-steering of 15/spl deg/ is also achieved from 5 GHz to 6 GHz.","PeriodicalId":149404,"journal":{"name":"2000 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. Advantages of a triangular patch resonator filter are not only its higher capability of power handling, but also its natural circuit topology that can inherently implement finite-frequency transmission zeros in a simple cascading structure. In order to have the transmission zeros on the either side of the passband, two different resonant modes of triangular patch resonators are employed. Two three-pole filters of this type, which may form the basic units for higher order filters, are for the first time demonstrated both theoretically and experimentally.","PeriodicalId":149404,"journal":{"name":"2000 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. We present a new platform called \"Engraved NRD-guide (ENRD)\". In this proposed structure, only the outline of NRD-guide is machined out of a dielectric block. It eliminates the alignment constraint and allows for a more precision design/realization and also a better physical integrity of the overall circuit. Using the ENRD-guide, a microstrip-to-NRD-guide transition and a filter were realized and measured, confirming its feasibility. It is believed that this technique will ease the fabrication of NRD-based millimeter-wave transceiver that may involve multiple NRD components.","PeriodicalId":149404,"journal":{"name":"2000 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat.
