Out of the 864 cases, only 61 patients required rescue and/or elective IV placement (7.06%) and significantly, 803 cases (92.94%) were performed safely without IV access. In 132 (15%) of the 864 cases, anesthetics were administered with a laryngeal mask airway (LMA), out of which a large proportion of cases 103 (78%) did not have IV access. Among the total number of patients only 9 developed transient desaturation and 2 developed laryngospasm. Out of the 9 transient desaturation patients 5 required rescue LMA in an attempt to manage airway. There were only 11 complications (1.27%) among 864 cases, all of which were resolved safely. There were no incidence of deaths or prolong admissions for complications.","PeriodicalId":14916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Anesthesia & Critical Care: Open Access","volume":"34 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81234905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The underlying pathophysiology of PCS is due to multiple factors but the characteristic pain presentation is thought to be a direct result of varicosities of the pelvis. Valvular insufficiency and venous reflux or obstruction manifesting as ovarian vein or hypogastric vein congestion often result in pelvic varicosities [3]. External varicosities are not present in all cases of PCS; areas that they are commonly seen include the vulvoperineal, posterior thigh and gluteal regions, and occur in venous regions drained by either the ovarian or internal iliac veins. Patients become symptomatic when the distended and tortuous veins are compressed locally, causing subsequent irritation and inflammation of nearby organs in proximity to the engorged and swollen plexus of pelvic veins.","PeriodicalId":14916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Anesthesia & Critical Care: Open Access","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84746415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It should be noted that the condition of the abdominal cavity in patients with AABO is not always subordinated to any particular stereotype, so therapeutic tactics are selected individually, taking into account the severity of the disease and the state of the abdominal cavity. We consider it fundamentally important that for the development of treatment tactics, such factors as the severity of the disease, the severity of the intestinal paresis, the prevalence of the adhesion process and the frequency of relapses should play an important role. In the last decade in pediatric surgery, and in recent years and in general surgery, work has appeared in which laparoscopy has been successfully used for the diagnosis and treatment of AABO. However, these studies are few in number, and they evaluate the possibilities of the laparoscopic method in different ways. Most surgeons believe that the use of laparoscopy in these cases is not only impractical, but also dangerous because of the possibility of iatrogenic damage to the intestine in conditions of paresis and adhesions in the abdominal cavity.","PeriodicalId":14916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Anesthesia & Critical Care: Open Access","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73023531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Bispectral Index is a generated number between 0 and 100 that is derived through utilization of a number of advanced EEG signal processing techniques including bispectral analysis, power spectral analysis, and time domain analysis [3]. The recommended range to reduce awareness is 40‐60 arbitrary BIS units. During carotid endarterectomy, clamping of the carotid artery may alter cerebral perfusion resulting in ischaemia with altered EEG activity [4]. When monitored using a continuous EEG changes are commonly observed bilaterally, however asymmetrical changes are often seen [3]. Electrocephalogram (EEG) changes during endarterectomy have shown global but not hemispheric changes which was correlated with systolic blood pressure variability during clamping [5]. Bonhomme et al. [6] recently investigated the use of BIS monitoring during carotid cross clamping with the sensor placed on the operative side of the forehead. They demonstrated that clamping of the carotid artery was associated with variable changes in BIS (increase, decrease, or no change at all) and suggested caution when interpreting BIS values during carotid cross‐clamping.","PeriodicalId":14916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Anesthesia & Critical Care: Open Access","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88120853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subcutaneous tissue is endowed with blood capillaries becoming a conduit conducive to the administration of fluids and such drugs, once they are absorbed and transported the microcirculation. The vascularization of subcutaneous tissue accounts for approximately 6% of cardiac output, allowing a rate of absorption very similar to that of intramuscular administration of drugs reaching lower serum concentrations, but with prolonged action time similar to other parenteral methods it avoids Clarence and Pre-systemic by the liver, allowing a stable serum concentration of the drug and avoiding plasma peaks that determine the possible appearance of undesirable side effects, if continuous infusion is used, it is also avoided that the plasma concentration falls to insufficient levels for resurgence of symptoms [2].","PeriodicalId":14916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Anesthesia & Critical Care: Open Access","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85860970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
