After a brief description of the two algorithms, computer simulations using ns-2 have been reported to investigate intra-protocol fairness, inter-protocol friendliness and efficiency. The main results are given: (1) ARC is friendly towards Reno TCP whereas TFRC is not; (2) ARC increases fairness; (3) ARC remarkably improves the goodput with respect to TFRC and Reno TCP in the presence of wireless lossy links.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131043729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Application of the newly obtained formulas alleviates dramatically the algebraic work for determining the Hankel transforms of the current basis functions involving Chebyshev polynomials and edge condition. Computed moment method results using these expressions are presented. The effects of both uniaxial anisotropy in the substrate on the resonant frequency and bandwidth are investigated.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130745031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The non parametric representation \"Wigner-Ville distribution\" and the parametric representation \"modified version\" are used in this study for their interesting properties. These representations are applied to the analysis of the dispersion of symmetric S0 and antisymmetric A1 circumferential waves propagating around a tube with a radii ratio equal to 0.95. The image obtained by Wigner-Ville distribution is compared with the modified Wigner-Ville image. From these time-frequency images, we have estimated the group velocity with a high precision. These velocities are compared with those computed by the proper mode theory given in the scientific literature. A good agreement is obtained.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132082755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modified system has a reliable feedback channel that carries a binary signal from the receiver to inform the transmitter about the current state of the channel, and hence affects transmission decision. In the analysis, both regenerative and nonregenerative systems are considered. Outage probability, which is the probability of having the link quality below a certain threshold is used as the performance assessment tool. Numerical results show that binary feedback greatly improves the performance of two-hop systems, specially when the transmission threshold is set close to the outage threshold. They also show that non-regenerative systems with binary feedback can outperform regenerative systems without any feedback.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127853600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in an earlier published paper, the authors shown that RNN's have poor performance in terms of phoneme accuracy when applied to the specific problem of converting text streams into their phonetic transcriptions. This is due to the fact that RNN's contains a weak left side context dependence between letters and the right side context dependence is not included. In this paper, we study the behavior of RNN that includes the context information between adjacent letters at the input. The results in terms of phoneme accuracy, for the RNN with both side input context dependence, multilayer perception and RNN, in the context of text-to-phoneme mapping, are shown.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126654609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have implemented an IR-DSSS prototype with 100 MHz code frequency and about 6 Mbps bit rate. The problem has a practical application in the construction of a minimum cost distribution tree for multicast transmission. Multicast transmission represents a necessary lower network service for the wide diffusion of new multimedia network applications. Currently, given the lack of efficient distributed methods, the existing protocols build the multicast distribution tree using some selected central node. The proposed distributed algorithms allow the construction of effective distribution trees using a coordination protocol among the network nodes. The algorithms have been implemented and tested both in simulation and on real networks, and their performance values are presented.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116134397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have already developed intelligent filtering techniques for robust speech recognition. In this method, a conventional FIR band-pass filter is applied on speech running power spectrum. In order to improve recognition accuracy, the designed FIR filter becomes high order considerably. Using a FRM filter, we can develop a new robust speech recognition whose recognition ability is high enough and whose filtering order can be reduced. Using this new FRM filter, some speech recognition experiments are shown in this report.","PeriodicalId":146713,"journal":{"name":"First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004.","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121671799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
