In parallel with their popularity, the complexity of aesthetics and functionality of web applications have also increased significantly, creating a big challenge for maintenance and cross-browser compliance testing. Since such testing and verification activities require visual analysis, web application testing has not been sufficiently automated. In this paper, we propose a novel pairwise image comparison approach suitable for web application testing where the location of layout faults needs to be detected efficiently while insignificant variations being neglected. This technique is developed based on the characteristics of fault patterns of browser layouts. An empirical study conducted with the industry partner shows our approach is more effective and efficient than existing methods in this area.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126934855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inspired by nonparametric scene labeling approaches, we estimate a scene's geometric layout by matching global image descriptors and retrieving the most similar layout configuration. Our label transfer is done for each sub-region of an image and a tiered scene model is used to integrate all the local label information into a coherent scene layout prediction. Given the geometric layout, we use a super-resolution method to zoom in the distance region and refine the search in object detection. On KITTI dataset, we show that we can reliably generate scene layout and improve the detection of distant cars over the state of the art DPM detector.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122896242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Affinity Pansharpening and Image Fusion","authors":"Stephen Tierney, Junbin Gao, Yi Guo","doi":"10.1109/DICTA.2014.7008094","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/DICTA.2014.7008094","url":null,"abstract":"A novel framework for enhancing the resolution of a low-resolution multispectral or hyperspectral image using a high resolution panchromatic image or multispectral image is proposed in this paper. This framework can be further used to perform more general types of image fusion. To create the enhanced image, a convex objective function is minimised, which preserves both the pixel affinity learnt from the high resolution image and spectral information from the low resolution image. A fast approximation method is discussed. Quantitive and qualitative analysis against existing methods shows that our method is comparable to state of the art with faster running time and greater flexibility. MATLAB code for our proposed method and the compared methods are freely available in the FuseBox package.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123261336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein, we focus on establishing matches between images of urban scenes which are typically composed of planar surface patches with highly repetitive structures. The latter property makes traditional point-based methods unreliable. The basic idea of our approach is to formulate the correspondence problem in terms of homography estimation between planar image regions: given a planar region in one image, we are simultaneously looking for its corresponding segmentation in the other image and the planar homography acting between the two regions. We will show, that due to the overlapping views the general 8 degree of freedom (DOF) of the homography mapping can be geometrically constrained to 3 DOF and the resulting segmentation/registration problem can be efficiently solved by finding the region's occurrence in the second image using pyramid representation and normalized mutual information as the intensity similarity measure. The method has been validated on a large database of building images taken by different mobile cameras and quantitative evaluation confirms robustness against intensity variations, occlusions or the presence of non-planar parts. We also show examples of 3D planar surface reconstruction as well as 2D mosaicking.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127743722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our main objective is to overcome their limitation where very small faces could not be detected and landmarked. Furthermore, we also want to improve the landmarking accuracy and reduce false positive rate for facial images with various resolutions in one image. We achieve these aims by developing two separate tree-structured face models in an integrated system. The first one is the Multi Resolution (MR) models where it can detect faces on images of any resolution and further provide suitable number of landmarks. The second one is that we develop a Tree-structured Filter Model (TFM) which can reduce false positives quickly to avoid high processing time for multiple faces with different resolutions in one image. Finally, we combine these 2 models with Viola-Jones face detector to create a facial landmarking system. Our experiments show that our proposed models can detect small faces down to 30x30 pixels. Furthermore, our models can improve the landmarking accuracy as well as reduce false positive rates significantly.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"195 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132675943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we focus on crowd event (activity) detection and classification. We focus on active crowd (continuously moving crowd) events. First, event primitives such as motion, action, activity and behaviour are defined. Furthermore, a distinction is made among event detection, action recognition and abnormal event detection. Further, event detection and classification are defined on Riemannian Manifolds that yields six different probabilities of the event occurring. Using a new probabilistic approach, an automated event detection algorithm is proposed that temporally segments the event using a novel framework. The results indicate that the proposed approach delivers superior performance in selected cases and similar results in other cases, whilst the detection model delay allows operation in near real-time. The Performance Evaluation of Tracking and Surveillance (PETS) 2009 dataset was used for evaluation. Existing crowd event detection approaches used supervised approach, whereas we eschew semi-supervised approach.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134268209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the aim to increase capacity of the watermarking channel with noise we propose Initial Data Loss during quantization for some samples in pre-defined positions. Also, the proposed approach exploits a new form of distribution of quantized samples where samples that interpret \"0\" and \"1\" have differently shaped probability density functions. This creates a distinctive feature which is expressed numerically using one out of two proposed criteria. The criteria are utilized by a procedure for recovery after possible Gain Attack. Several state of the art quantization-based watermarking methods were used for comparison on a set of natural grayscale images. The superiority of the proposed method has been confirmed for different types of popular attacks.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130292302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Poses are represented by normalized joint locations, velocities and accelerations of skeleton joints. An extended label consistent K-SVD (ELC-KSVD) algorithm is proposed for learning the common and action-specific dictionaries. Discriminative key poses are represented by the atoms of the action-specific dictionaries. With the specific dictionaries, sparse codes are obtained for representing action instances through max pooling and temporal pyramid. A SVM classifier is trained for action recognition. The proposed method was evaluated on the MSRC-12 gesture and MSR-Action 3D datasets. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method is effective in extracting discriminative key poses.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115910884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

State-of-the-art algorithms have been implemented and their performance analyzed with and without applying different smoothing filters. Aiming for successful reconstruction from less number of projections, sparsity prior reconstruction algorithms are found to be useful in CT, provided that the signal reconstruction is performed in a compressed domain (i.e. gradient or wavelet domain). The subject matter of this work is the investigation of the reconstruction performance variation with the application of a smoothing filter prior sparsifying transform. Experiments on simulated and real medical images show that the performance of the reconstruction algorithms vary, and smoothing before the sparsifying transform ensures better reconstruction.","PeriodicalId":146695,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications (DICTA)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115273763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical foundation relies on variational calculus, which yields a closed form solution for the normal vector a 3D planar surface patch, when a homography is known between the corresponding image region pairs.
