The mean (±S.D) of MTI were 2.91±0.38 (95% C.I =3.14-2.67). Its value is first reduced and then increase happened and ultimately stays constant. The mean of FiB was 0.13 (95% C.I=0.28-(-0.02)) and its trend was similar to that of total landing. The mean of Pi index, P/D index, pelagic fish and demersal fish were 0.04±0.02 (95% C.I=0.09-(-0.012)), 3.16±2.31 (95% C.I = 0.6-(-0.52)), 38529±22883 (95% C.I=38585-38472) and 13380±3314 (95% C.I= 3401-13358), respectively. The results revealed that the fish stock in the Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea have been over-exploited. Considering that fishing impacts on the trophic level, we suggest that the fishery management should not continue this trend.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"112-122"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46871971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During March-April 2017 random samples of C. regium were collected by a river seine in the Zayandeh River. Sampled fish ages were between 2 to 5 years and ranges of total length, body weight and otolith mass averages of samples were 82.2-161.6mm, 5.35-42.35g and 4.1-7.3mg, respectively. As the fish grow, total length, body weight and otolith mass averages showed a clear increasing trend. The results revealed significant positive relationships between variability of body length and otolith weight ( P <0.05) as well as variability of body weight and otolith mass ( P <0.05) of C. regium . Furthermore, an obvious significant increasing trend of otolith mass with age increment ( P <0.05) is found. The average weights of otoliths in the present study increased with age, length and weight which evidently confirms that the otolith mass increase in C. regium is in compliance with somatic growth through the ontogenetic processes.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"106-111"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45982220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to specific habitat preference, cryptic behavior, the small size and sampling difficulties, many gobies were previously overlooked and thus the knowledge about their distribution is rather scarce. This study presents lagoon shrimp goby, Cryptocentrus cyanotaenia , as additional fish element for the Iranian waters in the coast of Hormuz Island (Strait of Hormuz). The distribution range of lagoon shrimp goby was in the Western Central Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean. This species is distinguished by the several traits such as body elongate and compressed, snout truncate, body brownish grey color with 11 vertical narrow whitish blue lines on the sides, largely greenish yellow on head and mandible, head and base of pectoral fin with numerous short blue oblique broken lines and spots with markings on the head and snout. Providing data on C. cyanotaenia which is now widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific, would offer particularly valuable information on the biogeography of species.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"98-105"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47624197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This trend is likely to be continued in the future. We assessed the impact of climate change on the distribution of brown trout in Iran by simulating their conditions under optimistic and pessimistic climate change scenarios (RCP 2.6 and RCP 8.5) in 2050 and 2080 by using species distribution models (SDMs) tool and ensemble forecasting approach. The results showed a significant reduction in the distribution range of this species (100%) in our database in all optimistic and pessimistic climate change scenarios. Moreover, no new potential sites were predicted in those scenarios. These outcomes seriously warn that a conservation and management plans are required to protect this species in future.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"73-81"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48274680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, little is known of its reproductive information regarding spawning pattern and season that could possibly explain its success as an invasive species. This research is the first presentation of its reproductive characteristics, which was conducted based on 235 individuals collected monthly throughout a year from Sefid River, in the southern Caspian Sea basin. Age, sex ratio, fecundity, oocytes diameter and gonado-somatic index were calculated. Regression analyses were used to find relations among fecundity and fish size, gonad weight (Wg) and age. The mature males and females were longer than 93.0 and 99.7mm in total length, respectively (+1 in age). The average egg diameter ranged from 0.4mm (April) to 1.1mm (August). Spawning took place in August, when the water temperature was 23 to 26°C. Average gonado-somatic index values for females at the beginning of the reproduction period (March) and in ripe mature spawning females (August) were 2.90% and 16.97%, respectively. The averages of absolute and relative fecundities were 19978.6 and 607.1 eggs, respectively. The absolute fecundity was significantly related to body weight, ovary weight and age. A potentially high reproductive capacity, comparatively small eggs, short time of eggs’ development, fast sexual maturation, short life span, tolerance to a wide range of environmental conditions, all promote the invasion of this invasive sharpbelly in freshwater ecosystems of the temperate climate zone.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"31-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48106812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 848 specimens were caught from five basins throughout Iran during 2013-2015. A total number of 15 landmark-points were defined and digitized on 2D pictures. Despite of intraspecific differences among Cyprinion fishes, CVA divided all populations into three major groups viz. C. macrostomum , C. kais and C. tenuiradius (group X), C. watsoni and C. microphthalmum (group Y ) and C. milesi (group Z). According to the results, C. macrostomum group can be distinguished from other groups by having deeper body, least head length and depth, the longest dorsal-fin base and least caudal peduncle length. Cyprinion milesi has the longest anal-fin base, least body depth, deepest caudal peduncle and longest head. Cyprinion watsoni has the longest caudal peduncle and least dorsal-fin base and C. microphthalmum is distinguished by having the least caudal peduncle length and depth. The main reasons of observed intraspecies morphological diversity among the fishes is proposed to be some phenotypic plasticity related to climatic and zoogeographical factors. The results suggest that the most possible factor influencing morphological variations among Iranian Cyprinion species is habitat related differences.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"6 1","pages":"54-64"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44168730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
