Over the years, RFID access controls have focused on more robust and flexible designs. In addition, with the development of new technologies that led us to connect to the Internet, more complex and diverse designs of RFID access controls are provided. This paper presents the design and implementation of an RFID access control for the IoT, with a security scheme based on Open-source hardware and the ATECC608A cryptographic processor to provide data integrity and confidentiality. According to the results, in contrast with previous implementations, the proposed system reads and stores the RFID card information through a visual interface, increasing its security and performance.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124586395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, as storage providers are untrustworthy, two major security concerns for data owners are confidentiality and access control. A naive solution to achieve these security goals is to encrypt before outsourcing the data to the cloud. However, such approach entails a major problem for data consumers: searching over unintelligible data becomes quite difficult. In this context, Searchable Encryption (SE) is a powerful cryptographic technique that lets data owners store encrypted data on untrusted external servers while keeping the ability to perform searching and retrieval tasks from the encrypted format. In this paper, we present two novel constructions for searching over encrypted data on the basis of Attribute-Based Searchable Encryption (ABSE). Our constructions are implemented over asymmetric pairings (Type-III), enabling SE deployments for security levels higher than the common and obsolete 80-bit security found in the literature. The proposed constructions consider the two most common realizations of Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE) for the access structure: tree- and matrix-based. The experimental validation and evaluation over the LISA benchmark revealed the suitability of ABSE in practical applications, its correctness, and efficacy.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129831911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We rely on different pedagogical methodologies and existing learning strategies such as constructionism, conceptual change, problem-based learning, among others. At the same time, we propose the use of other types of models and standards that help in the evaluation and the role that technology will have based on its interaction with the student. To exemplify these pedagogical and technological resources, basic logic gates are used as the main topic to later describe how they can be applied to other subjects and disciplines. At the end, the instructional design is described in three different representations (real learning trajectory, educational planning and diagram) where it can be better appreciated how the activities intervene in pedagogy and technology.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124228726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We make use of markless technology to create an autonomous learning app for STEM students. We describe the development process. To measure EstelAR's achievement, we conducted a pre/post- test experiment with a group of 34 STEM students, divided into two classes (experimental and control). The result indicates that EstelAR had a similar performance compared to the traditional in-person method to learn stellar Astronomy subjects. A lack of retention in the short-term (7 days) was detected for both groups. We comment on the result and describe the limitations in the conclusions.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130708394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sargassum monitoring through satellite platforms has allowed us to probe its dynamics at a regional scale (mesoscale). However, these methods are not always used for monitoring at the beach level (human scale). Information is required at this level so that the authorities in charge of Sargassum management can design suitable strategies to address stranding. Artificial Intelligence techniques such as Machine Learning (ML) have recently been incorporated for beach-level data analysis. This has required the construction of new data sets. Due to the beach length, various techniques are used for image collection. One of these techniques is Crowdsourcing. To use only images that possess the visual and framing characteristics useful for the calculation of Sargassum coverage on a beach, imagery submitted by the participants must be classified before analysis. The present study proposes a method of automatic image classification with an in-depth linear perspective that allows build adequate datasets for studies on Sargassum accumulated that require highlighting the presence of this macroalgae along the beaches. The detection of Sargassum in the images is outside the scope of this study. For this purpose, was implemented on three neural networks from the literature the Transfer Learning technique. ResNet50, MobileNetv2, and VGG16 were re-trained with a dataset of 5,000 balanced samples of images with and without linear beach perspective. After several experiments, an accuracy of 80%, 90%, and 91%, respectively, was achieved. To complement the information provided by the Accuracy, Precision, and F1 score metrics, a resampling analysis of the F1-Score metric was performed with the Bootstrapping technique, concluding that VGG16 and MobileNetV2 obtained similar results with a confidence interval of 95% between 0.88 and 0.92. Finally, considering the spatial and temporal complexity of both architectures, MobileNetV2 is proposed as the most appropriate for the classification of images with and without linear perspective in depth. The classification of this type of image, in addition to requiring new data sets, takes the application of ML to another level, since in addition to the geometry or color, the model has to discriminate the texture and spatial distribution of the elements in the image, in order to successfully perform the classification.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133562235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It decreases when cognitive dimensions such as processing speed are affected in older adults. The objective way to measure is through observation to identify crash risks in naturalistic driving, which is costly in time and money. Other objective measures that can be easily monitored need to be investigated. Our project aims to examine the association between the properties of visual attention (i.e., duration and frequency of looking at specific points in the cabin) and drivers' cognitive performance. Previously, we developed the Intelligent Multi-modal Monitoring System to infer Points of Visual Attention (SiMIPAV). It measures the properties of visual attention based on head posture, which we validated with 15 young adults and 15 older adults. This study aims to validate the feasibility of measuring visual behaviors using SiMIPAV with a simulator, which would facilitate data collection in a safe environment. We recruited 12 young adults and 5 adults over the age of 59 who drove in a simulator based on video game platforms. We found that road gaze frequency was negatively correlated with driving speed in both conditions (simulator and naturalistic) and with both age groups. However, road gaze duration and speed are only correlated in the naturalistic condition.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114831007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) has pose new challenges for protecting data in systems and devices tightly close to humans. Embedded systems with constrained computing capabilities are a central part in IoT and CPS, susceptible to different security attacks and vulnerabilities. Lightweight cryptography is the term used for grouping the different cryptographic algorithms and techniques tailored to observe the requirements for data security in such constrained applications. Nowadays, the potential emergence of quantum computing threatens these security solutions widely in use. Thus, novel cryptographic algorithms deemed to resist quantum attack models are being standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Standardization process. In this paper, we present a study on how the advent of quantum computing might have a deep impact on the security of constrained applications in the IoT and CPS domains. We focused on the NIST PQC finalists, from the perspective of their use for securing embedded systems.","PeriodicalId":145622,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Mexican International Conference on Computer Science (ENC)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117267914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
