However, the power transfer capability of an SS WPT system depends on the coupling between the windings. When it operates at the resonant frequency, the SS WPT system may fail to output the required power at a strong coupling position. In practical applications, it is expected that the coupling will change in a large range due to air gap changes and misalignments. Usually, the power transfer capability can be improved by shifting the operating frequency to the splitting frequencies in the strong-coupling region. However, a few practical constraints such as input voltage limit, VA rating limit (or input current limit), operating frequency range, expected rated-output-power coupling range, and soft switching condition, will significantly complicate the design processes of such a system with a large coupling range. This paper proposes a two-end verification method for designing large-coupling-range SS WPT systems under the above practical constraints. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the design method.","PeriodicalId":145366,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131270156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To mitigate the aforementioned problems, flexible AC interconnector (FACI) can be exploited to interconnect feeders in the place of normally open points. FACI can provide functions of continuous active power control and reactive power compensation to enhance the control capability of DN. This paper proposes a novel embedded multi-port FACI (eM-FACI) based on static synchronous compensator, which has advantages of modularity, low cost, high power density, flexible scalability and is capable of decoupled regulation of power flow in multiple feeders. First, topological configuration and operating principles are analyzed. Then inner energy balance mechanism is established and control strategy is proposed. The dynamic performance of the second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) and phase-locked loop (PLL) may aggravate the issue of LFO. To address this, an improved orthogonal signal generator (OSG) method is proposed to enhance dynamic performance and system stability. In this method, the dq-frame impedance model of the high-speed train-network(HSTN) system including the SOGI and the PLL is first provided. Following that, the generalized Nyquist criterion (GNC) is used to analyze the stability of the HSTN system. Accordingly, an improved OSG method is used to replace the SOGI, and hence ensures system stability. Simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":145366,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127236899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In comparison with conventional capacitor voltage balancing control, the proposed virtual current injection voltage balancing control (VCIVBC) is able to balance the capacitor voltage without using a low-pass filter to obtain the dc difference between two capacitor voltages. The proposed control requires only two sensed capacitor voltages to process some simple algebraic calculations that can reduce the low corner frequency pole to restrict system response. Moreover, the transfer functions of the FSTPAFER are derived by the state average model in the synchronous rotating frame (SRF), and the stability of the system is verified by the bode plot in the frequency domain. The short-time rated ripple current for DC-link capacitors is determined by the operation time of power converters and the transient temperature rise characteristic of the electrolytic capacitors with the ripple current exceeding the rated current. The relation between the operation time of the power converters and the current value of the electrolytic capacitors is derived by the thermal characteristics of the electrolytic capacitors. The thermal characteristics are obtained by the experiment for the temperature measurement of the element of the electrolytic capacitors. Besides, this paper provides the design concept of the grid-connected inductor from the magnetization characteristic of magnetic materials in order to reduce the size. The proposed small signal modeling of the grid-connected inverter system takes the time delays caused by digital control into consideration, and converts the time delay factor into a rational polynomial with the pade approximation method, so as to establish the state space model of the entire system. Eigenvalue analysis method is used to compare the small disturbance stability of the grid-connected inverter system with or without considering time delays under different environments. Numerical simulation results show that in the grid-connected inverter system with time delays considered, when the strength of the power grid changes, the system has discontinuous stable regions and the small signal model of the system with time delay considered is more accurate and more sensitive to changes in the controller parameters. Finally, Matlab/Simulink simulation results verify the correctness of the proposed theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":145366,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116927864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this paper proposes a bipolar-type DC transformer topology based on NPC (Neutral Point Clamped)-DAB (Dual Active Bridge) and its asymmetric operation control scheme. This topology has bipolar LVDC ports which can meet the requirements of low- voltage users for multiple voltage levels, power safety and reliable supply. The control approach manages the settings of the regulating devices optimally in order to regulate node voltages and minimizes power loss effectively with the aid of minimal control resources. Three rules are devised for MPC on the basis of magnitudes of voltages. The objectives for MPC are changed according to these pre-defined rules. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is tested in a 33-bus distribution network. It has been found that the proposed control scheme could mitigate voltage violations as well as energy loss in both normal and abnormal conditions. Moreover, the performance of the proposed control scheme with ESS is better than without ESS in terms of less usage of control resources, and reduced energy losses. Simulations are also carried out to test the robustness of the control scheme. The performance of the proposed control scheme is further investigated with distributed ESS.","PeriodicalId":145366,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116373186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To realize the entire speed range operation of driving systems, switching between different modes is inevitable. Three-level half-wave symmetric SHEPWM has more control degrees of freedom to deal with various problems, but the phase distribution and switching angle are quite different from quarter-wave symmetric SHEPWM. Thus, some conventional smooth switching methods can not be directly applied to three-level half-wave symmetric SHEPWM to avoid the current impact problem. In this paper, by analyzing the harmonic characteristics of half-wave symmetric SHEPWM and smooth switching conditions, the proper simultaneous switching point is derived, and then a multi-mode hybrid modulation strategy based on half-wave symmetric SHEPWM suitable for three-level converters is obtained. It can avoid the current shock at the switching time under various power factor and modulation ratio.
