It is illustrated by a practical application on one of the most important Internet retailing protocols: Internet Open Trading Protocol (IOTP). Compared to related works in formal modelling and analysis of e-commerce protocols, our approach concentrates more on realistically capturing the XML document exchange processes of the protocols, which we believe is central to most e-commerce protocols. This suite is then run repeatedly after each modification or fix until a satisfactory pass rate is achieved. Such testing does not lend itself to treatment with traditional reliability models which, in keeping with their origins in hardware, assume that each fault is fixed upon discovery and that the relevant temporal variable is calendar or execution time. In this paper, a model using ordinal time, measured by baselined development configurations, is presented. The use of this model in combination with an empirical mapping of test case failures to product code faults allows for rapid tracking of testing progress. We have already developed a logistic regression model which predicts whether a project becomes risky or not (O. Mizuno et al., 2000). However, the model returned the decision with a calculated probability only. Additionally, a formula was constructed based on the risk questionnaire which includes 23 questions. We therefore try to improve the previous method with respect to accountability and feasibility. In the new approach, we firstly construct a new risk questionnaire including only 9 questions (or risk factors), each of which is concerned with project management. We then apply multiple regression analysis to the actual project data, and clarify a set of factors which contributes essentially to estimate the relative cost error and the relative duration error, respectively. We then apply the constructed formulas to another set of project data. The analysis results show that both the cost and duration of risky projects are estimated fairly well by the formulas. Supplier organisations also have issues that they must manage. This paper addresses all of these issues and presents eleven issues, which it calls strategic drivers. Thus, software development processes which were employed for conventional systems until now must be adapted to these new conditions. EC/EB systems typically have a high degree of interaction, which makes factors like ergonomics, didactics and psychology especially important in the development of user interfaces. They typically also have a high degree of integration with existing software systems like legacy or groupware systems. The development of EC/EB systems requires a new software development process which takes the \"time-to-market\" factor into account and allows the reduction of development time while maintaining the same level of quality. Simultaneously, the lifetime of software systems becomes very small and thus their development is required within a relatively short period. We propose a novel selective software testing method that aims to attain the requirement of short period development. The proposed method consists of 3 steps: assign priorities to functional modules (Step 1), derive a test specification (Step 2), and construct a test plan (Step 3) according to the priorities. In Step 1, for development of functional modules, we select both product and process properties to calculate priorities. Then, in Step 2, we generate detailed test items for each module according to its priority. Finally, in Step 3, we manage test resources including time and developer's skill to attain the requirement. Accepted risk management procedures recognize that software development is inherently risky, however fail to take into account the changing nature of both software products and the organizations undertaking their development. SE research has traditionally focused on the needs of very large corporations undertaking equally mammoth and complex development projects, thus most tools and methods are predicated on this model. Yet most software development is undertaken by small to medium enterprises. Consequently, these development efforts are either undertaken with little or no adherence to any SE standard process or by attempting to tailor processes intended for larger organizations. Neither of these alternatives is ideal, with both introducing new elements of risk. The rise of the Internet as a platform for commercial applications has partly driven this move away from monolithic software development and has also contributed to the proliferation of software products built using COTS components. Clearly there is a risk involved in the use of components not developed specifically for a particular application while Internet applications introduce an. entirely new set of possible risks.
