The challenge is to minimize both the number of required cars and the additional cost in terms of time for the drivers. There are two resulting problems that are interdependent and NP-complete: assigning passengers to cars and finding the shortest path for the drivers so that the overall cost is minimized. In this paper, we present the formulate of Car pooling problem as a Mix Integer Linear Program (MILP) and then investigate a new solution method based on DC (Difference of Convex functions) programming and DCA (DC Algorithms). In order to globally solve the problem, we combine DCA with classical Branch and Bound algorithm (BBDCA). DCA is used to calculate upper bound while lower bound is calculated from a liner relaxation problem. Preliminary numerical results which obtained by DCA and BBDCA are compared with CPLEX, the best solver for MILP. They show that the proposed algorithm is an efficient algorithm for solving MILP.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123684179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This protocol was designed to offer a better information delivery rate in DTNs scenarios. Fountain codes techniques are used to achieve our needs. The performance results were tested taking into account the hosts buffer size, the TTL (Time To Live) of the messages and the amount of redundant information generated into the network. A better delivery rate and performance were achieved using the proposed protocol.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"12 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114709283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, the breakdown of a router can be expensive for the network, as it can lead to congestion and to the loss of connections or packets - which, in turn, translates into loss of money. Vendors usually achieve carrier-grade availability by having standby routers ready to take over when a failure condition hits the active router(s). In such redundancy scheme, it is needed to duplicate practically every hardware component (e.g. the router switching processors and line cards), what makes the final high availability router very expensive. In this paper, we propose a redundancy model that tries to increase the overall router availability - by exploiting virtualization -, while also reducing the final device cost - by not having to duplicate every piece of hardware to obtain the desired availability level. The analytical results obtained show the proposed approach was able to achieve the intended goals.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127589494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As to the multicast, it suffers from unreliability and inefficiency. Recently many protocols have been designed for 802.11 such as Leader Based Protocol (LBP), to provide a reliable multicast transport. Yet no optimal solution has been proposed. In this paper we present Reliable PLCP-based Multicast Protocol (RPMP), a new reliable multicast protocol as an extension to the 802.11g and 802.11a. RPMP achieves reliability through the use of Negative Acknowledgements (NAK). We reduce the transmission overhead of our protocol, compared to other NAK-based proposals, by adding one additional OFDM symbol in the Physical Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) header of the multicast frame instead of using additional control frames. Further we show, based on our simulation results that the delivery ratio of RPMP remains at 100% in a lossy channel when it falls down to 50% with the standard. We also show that the efficiency of RPMP is much more enhanced than that of LBP.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117073267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods are particularly efficient but they are, in certain cases, very power-hungry. As energy is a scarce resource in wireless sensor networks, we propose a new approach that consists in utilising the physical properties of the transmission medium in order to calculate, when receiving a frame, a confidence rating that we attribute to the source of the frame. This information is important in order to decide if it is necessary to authenticate the source using asymmetric cryptography. In the case where sensors are static and communications are slightly perturbed by the environment, the proposed rating can add another layer of control which enables sensors to check the origin of messages. This paper will also study how collaboration between the network's nodes further enhances detection of malicious or third-party nodes.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122748046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MANET is a self-organizing network of wireless links connecting mobile nodes. MANET's technology offers both new challenges and opportunities for many applications. One of the major challenges for ad hoc technology is routing security, due essentially to MANET features (e.g., open medium, lack of centralized management, nodes mobility). In this paper, we propose ASRP, an efficient secure routing protocol to ensure the routing security in ad hoc networks. ASRP provides powerful security extensions to the reactive AODV protocol, based on modified secure remote password protocol and Diffie-Hellman (DH) algorithms. The simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed ASRP protocol, and its cost towards both the users and the network.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"67 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124282420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These terminals compete for common network resources in order to optimise its proper utility value. We describe the system as a potential evolutionary game and we show that by imposing an appropriate cost upon mobile users, the operators may guarantee that the system converges to efficient Nash equilibria which optimize the total utility of the system. Furthermore, we focus in discussing simulation results that validate the theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117325322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it should rely on an efficient scheduling scheme to fully profit from this potential gain. Although opportunistic scheduling is considered as the most promising scheduling technology for future networks in many literatures, it is not appropriate for the relay-assisted wireless systems due to some special features of the relay mode. In addition, most of the current literatures only discuss the scheduling in Base Station (BS) and neglect the channel state asymmetry between the BS-RS (Relay Station) link and RS-MS (Mobile Station) link. So we argue that an appropriate scheduling in RS can extremely improve the performance of the system. In this paper, we define a new concept called “channel-hole” which is used to precisely measure the wasted subchannel resources caused by the channel state asymmetry, and then propose a new scheduling algorithm, namely channel-hole based scheduling, in the RS based on this new concept. We also propose a theoretical model to analyze the proposed scheduling. Simulation results show that our proposed channel-hole scheduling is capable to utilize the radio resource more efficiently compared to the case where an opportunistic scheduling is used at the RS.","PeriodicalId":145056,"journal":{"name":"Global Information Infrastructure Symposium - GIIS 2011","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121663969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
