Papers of 104 consecutive patients with oculofacial injuries were retrospectively reviewed. Data were analyzed with respect to extent, severity, type and location of oculofacial injury. Treatment outcome assessed after surgeries performed by combined approach of ophthalmologist and plastic surgeon. Periorbital soft tissue trauma observed in 65 (62.5%), orbital and Periorbital fracture in 39 (37.5%) cases and Intraocular injuries were noted in 43 patients (41.35 %). Accompanying other injuries was managed properly for better final outcome. Goal of repair is to restore anatomical and cosmetic appearance of patients. In our series of patients, we achieved 95% cosmetic satisfaction with loss of 5 eyes vision with best of our care. The oculofacial trauma patients have tremendous fear of visual loss and aesthetic appearance. Functional and cosmetic outcome of oculofacial injuries depends on multiple factors, well planned, appropriate, early intervention by multidisciplinary approach provides best surgical outcome.","PeriodicalId":14485,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology and Oculoplasty","volume":"3 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83978200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

OAS may result from trauma, malignancy, infection, inflammation, or vascular origins. Aims of the study were to analyse the incidence and presentation of orbital apex syndrome in rhino-orbital mucormycosis in a tertiary care hospital. A total of 29 cases (4.1%) out of 696 cases of invasive ROCM with OAS as a presenting feature were documented. Amphotericin B in both retrobulbar and intravenous routes played a crucial role in arresting the spread of the disease allowing only 8 (27%) cases to show disease progression. FESS if done appropriately with efficient debridement of necrotic infective tissue can be a powerful tool in redirecting the course of disease for the better (only 2 of 8 patients with CST at the time of presentation had a history of FESS done prior. ROCM is a severe, emergent and fatal infection requiring multidisciplinary management. It may often present with OAS initially. Mucormycosis must be considered in such patients and timely aggressive management must be initiated to avoid disastrous morbidity and mortality.","PeriodicalId":14485,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology and Oculoplasty","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85990507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cases worked on computer for minimum of two hours per day while persons using computers for less than two hours a day were considered for Control group. The difference in positive fusional vergence, near point of convergence and amplitude of accommodation between two study groups was statistically significant. Dry eye was significant manifestation among cases. Three most commonly reported symptoms were Blurred vision (96 %), tired eyes (93 %) and Headache (86 %). Most of VDT users has abnormalities associated with accommodation and vergence dysfunctions. Dry eye is a significant factor associated with use of VDTs causing ocular discomfort. Duration of VDT use is directly related to the severity of the symptoms due to VDT use.","PeriodicalId":14485,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology and Oculoplasty","volume":"162 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85405029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has high incidence in tropical countries like India especially in males because of abundance of UV light exposure. It does not hamper vision until in later stages when visual axis is involved. But the burden of disease has increased due to recurrence rates post surgery which is considered to be mainstay of pterygium treatments. Recently there have been advances regarding understanding of pathophysiology and management of pterygium. This article aims to review the recent developments in pathophysiology including genetics, various treatment modalities available beside surgery e.g. adjunctive therapies and management of recurrence pterygium.","PeriodicalId":14485,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology and Oculoplasty","volume":"189 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76923729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was a retrospective cross-sectional study including all patients who underwent repair surgery following open globe injury and are on regular follow-up visits postoperatively in a tertiary eye hospital from 1st July to 31st December 2021. Patients were divided into two groups. Group A include OGI patients undergoing repair within 24 hours, and Group B includes OGI patients who underwent repair after 24 hours of injury. All the study patients were studied in detail, including the Presenting features, mechanism of injury, preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, demographic data, and postoperative complications. This study studied a total of 100 patients (46 in group A and 54 in group B). Male predominance (>70%) was seen in both groups. In both groups, the highest number of patients (61% in group A and 52% in group B) were in ≤18 years of age. In both groups, the majority of OGI (52% in group A and 61% in group B) were Iron induced. In groups A and B, Zone I is affected chiefly, about 85% and 81%, respectively. Most OGI patients were admitted to the hospital with severe low vision on VA examination, about 54% and 63% in Group A and B, respectively. At three months of postoperative follow-up, BCVA was significantly improved In Group A than in Group B (p-value 0.05). 80% patients improved to normal vision in group A compared to 50% in group B. Open globe injuries should be repaired as soon as possible, even within hours. Initial visual acuity remains the strongest predictor of outcome; however, delay to primary repair reduces final visual acuity.","PeriodicalId":14485,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology and Oculoplasty","volume":"332 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76372936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
