Formation of FDT was prepared using the formula [1-x] TiO2 + [x] Fe2O3 by solid state reaction method. The Surface morphology was studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique; it reveals the average particle size in the range of 180 to 200nm. FT-IR analysis reveals weak transmittance bands between 1020 to 1650 cm-1 and 2800 to 3500 cm-1 which shows a gradual decrease in peak intensities with an increase of Fe concentration. Thermal stability was assessed by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Results of TGA Profiles indicate that all FDT nanopowder was found to be thermally stable between 400 °C to 600 °C. The dielectric behavior of the said composite has been investigated as a function of frequency (20 Hz - 1 MHz) at room temperature and it is observed that the dielectric constant decreases with increasing frequency indicating dispersion behavior.","PeriodicalId":14453,"journal":{"name":"International Letters of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77101115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is based on the formation of colored complex between V(V) and 1, 5-diphenylcarbazide (DPCI). The method involves the reaction of V(V) with DPCI in presence of buffer solution of pH 6.8 to form colored complex with λmax at 530 nm. The fixed time method (2000 Sec) was adopted for constructing the calibration curve. The linearity range was found to be (2-12) mg/L. The correlation coefficient was 0.9999 and the limit of detection was found to be 0.349 mg/L. The method is feasible with the calibration equations obtained, which makes this method more applicable. Statistical treatment of the experimental results indicates that the method is precise, selective and accurate. The method was successfully applied for determination of V(V) in Syrian crude oil and its heavy product.","PeriodicalId":14453,"journal":{"name":"International Letters of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73933102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study revealed that the extract reduced the corrosion rate of aluminium AA8011 from 0.407 mm/yr to as low as 0.106 mm/yr in 0.25 M KOH after being exposed for five hours. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase as the concentration of the plant extract in the medium increased. The adsorption studies, computed from the experimental data revealed Langmuir isotherm as the best model for the isotherm (r2=0.999) on the mild steel surface. Gibb’s free energy of adsorption was also calculated and gotten to be 15.61 kJmol-1, suggesting that inhibitor molecules have been spontaneously adsorbed onto the aluminum surface through physical adsorption mechanism.","PeriodicalId":14453,"journal":{"name":"International Letters of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81949842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Upon irradiation with UV/visible light, semiconductors catalyze undergoes redox reactions in presence of air/O2 and water. In the present study Zinc oxide (ZnO) was doped with activated carbon prepared from the stem of the plant material by chemical activation namely, Vitexnegundo stem carbon (VNC). The decolourisation and degradation study of a dye namely, methylene blue (MB) was carried out to find out the efficiency of catalytic property of ZnO/VNC. The reaction was performed at 20, 40, 60 ppm of dye solution with ZnO/VNC material at 10 min interval of time. It found that the prepared ZnO / VNC composite exhibits an enhanced Photocatalytic activity for MB degradation under visible light irradiation and its photo catalysis efficiency was analyzed in specific 663 nm λ max using a UV–vis-spectrophotometer. The surface morphology and functional group present in the ZnO / VNC material was characterized by using FT-IR, SEM and XRD. The result reveals that the ZnO/VNC structure consists of irregular aggregates with rough surfaces and high photodegradation activities of ZnO/VNC on MB solutions are found to be at 20ppm. The ZnO/VNC may be used as an alternative adsorbent to remove MB from aqueous solutions.Keywords: Methylene blue (MB), ZnO / VNC, FT-IR, SEM, XRD","PeriodicalId":14453,"journal":{"name":"International Letters of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy","volume":"59 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82346045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A maximum intensity of sunlight (106.25 klux) was reached at 12:00 PM. However, beyond 12:00 PM the intensity showed a non-monotonic change behavior. This was ascribed to the change of sun position, its orientation and the direction at which the surface of the panel is illuminated. Results showed that the increase of sunlight intensity has made Isc to increase, while that of the Voc remains relatively unchanged. The reason why Isc is more affected by the sunlight intensity was understood from the fact that charge carriers acquire enough kinetic energy to move towards their corresponding electrodes before they relapse or recombine together, while as Voc is mostly correlated to the energy gap. There was a trivial decrement of efficiency with the increase of temperature. This was where the FF showeda reverse trend of increment with the increase of temperature. Noteworthy, at the points where the fill factor was decreased the efficiency was increased and vice versa.","PeriodicalId":14453,"journal":{"name":"International Letters of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy","volume":"50 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80783085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reaction was first order with respect to [NR+], [NO2-] and [H+]. The reaction displayed a negative Bronsted-Debye salt effect. There was no evidence of the formation of an intermediate complex of significant stability and free radicals are probably not present in the reaction. The observations above, coupled with the result of Michaelis-Menten plot suggests an outer sphere mechanism for the reaction. The reaction obeys the rate law: -d [NR+]/dt = (a + b [H+])[NR+][NO2-].
