It adopts the electroscan to control the commutation of the directional beams to obtain the directional pulse amplitude (PA) information. The PA/sub 0/ from an omni-directional channel is taken as a reference. The process of the PA difference among the directional beams is based on constant difference PA principle. By consulting the RF-/spl Delta/PA-DOA (direction of arrival) table in the memory, the direction of radar signal is obtained. The advantages of the method are synthesized from multi-beam, PA comparison and electroscan DF techniques. The optimum coherent detector, which derives from the likelihood ratio test, is used as the performance bound. Starting from some of its possible different analytical formulations, the optimum detector is approximated to give a family of suboptimum detectors, with performance close to optimal. The adaptive implementation of these detectors is discussed and the adaptivity loss is evaluated. The detection schemes are then fed with recorded live clutter data, and their performance are analyzed in such environment. We present a new method by which arbitrary phase errors can be corrected. The proposed technique is based on a continuous wavelet transform (CWT) analysis of the SAR signal. An approximate explicit expression for CWT is derived under the condition of the radar signal and the mother wavelet being constricted in asymptotic forms. It is demonstrated that the frequency modulation information, which can be used for refocusing the SAR image, can be obtained from the arguments or the moduli of the wavelet coefficients.
