Considering the spatial correlation and spectral correlation, a selection rule, referring to spectral information and its correlation, is constructed for band selection. To test the efficiency of this algorithm, K-means algorithm for unsupervised classification was applied on images generated from the algorithm. The results showed that the proposed algorithm reduced the computation amount and improved the classification accuracy.","PeriodicalId":143959,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Image Analysis and Signal Processing","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125722334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By analyzing the relationship between average MAD of some previously encoded P frames in the GOP and the actual MAD of the last previously encoded P frame, a more accurate MAD prediction model is proposed to substitute linear model for MAD prediction. The experiment results show that proposed model performs better in test sequences, as MAD prediction error is more effectively reduced by up to 34% comparing to linear model. By studying the relationship between the bit budget and the image complexity, a method regarding the image complexity is provided here to allocate bit to frames according to their MAD ratio; and an adaptive QP adjustment method is given to improve overall visual quality. Equipped with the methods mentioned above, H.264 coder can effectively alleviate PSNR surges and sharp drops for frames caused by high motions or scene changes in simulation.","PeriodicalId":143959,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Image Analysis and Signal Processing","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121793435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we represent an edge point using its position and the strength of its gradient to define a 3D distance function. We propose a modified Hausdorff distance based on this 3D distance function, and investigate its application in object matching problems. Finally, experimental comparisons are performed with conventional methods. At this stage, we tested different methods on the images with different levels of noise. Their sensitivities to geometric distortion are also evaluated against image rotation and scale change. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more robust and reliable.","PeriodicalId":143959,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Image Analysis and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125203673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the rate of life saving, this paper puts forward a vision enhancement system based on infrared video for the maritime search and rescue. A method is proposed for detecting and tracking targets at sea. Based on the characteristics of infrared image and the sea environment, we combine the approaches of frame difference and target region-growth to detect and track targets. The image of the current frame is different from the previous one and the result is transformed into a binary image using threshold segmentation. Then the region growth algorithm is employed to mark the targets' position on the video. The experimental result shows that the system is suitable for searching the overboard personnel at sea.","PeriodicalId":143959,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Image Analysis and Signal Processing","volume":"2 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130082844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
