High DC-photocurrents have been achieved with interdigitated structures and transmission lines have been used to improve matching between antenna and photomixer. Collimated THz beams are observed from surface-field THz emitters and three methods of improving the efficiency of these emitters are demonstrated: (i) by applying a magnetic field, (ii) by reducing the effective refractive index of the device and (iii) by altering the geometry of the device. Ito","doi":"10.1109/THZ.2002.1037588","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/THZ.2002.1037588","url":null,"abstract":"An achromatically injection-seeded terahertz-wave parametric generator (ais-TPG) was constructed using MgO:LiNbO/sub 3/ crystals and a tunable seeder using a stationary dispersion-compensated optical arrangement. Without readjusting the mirrors, smooth tuning of the terahertz-wave over the 0.6/spl sim/2.6 THz range was obtained by adjusting the seeder wavelength alone.
