Biotechnology is one of the areas of science that requires special skills in its application. Efforts that can be made to have skills in biotechnology applications can use quality teaching materials, that is student books. This research is a development research and using 4D model consisting of four stages but in this research only consist of three stages (define, design, and develop). The value of the validity of the books of students who developed 89.27% with the category is very valid. The average score of test book readability of students is 91,85% with very good category. The practical value of the book is 98.33% with very practical category. These results indicate that the developed student book is valid and practical for use in biotechnology learning in grade XII SMA. In implementing this educational objective, a learning model is required to be able to motivate the students in learning so that the students’ cognitive and effective increase. Problem-based learning model with audio visual media is considered to be one of the learning models which can improve the students. This study aimed to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model with audiovisual media on cognitive learning outcomes of the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 9 Jember on environmental pollution subject. Quasi-experimental research with control class and the experimental class was applied in this research. In the experimental class, learning activity was carried out by applying problem-based learning model with audiovisual media whereas the Discovery Learning model with an image as its media was taught in the control class. The data of the students' cognitive learning outcomes were obtained through the pre-test and post-test scores, the students' affective learning outcomes were collected through direct observation in a classroom by using observation sheet consisting of five aspects in which they were activeness, responsibility, collaboration, discipline, and interaction. The application of problem-based learning model with audiovisual media had a significant effect with a probability as much as 0,000. The affective learning outcomes influenced significantly with the probability value of the T-test was 0,000","PeriodicalId":142919,"journal":{"name":"Pancaran Pendidikan","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127190277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to analyze the practicality and attractiveness of the PPK-based thematic modules. The research method used in this study is quantitative descriptive. Subjects in this study were students and teachers of grade 4 elementary schools in using thematic modules based on PPK. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires. The results of this study were to determine the level of practicality and attractiveness of thematic modules based on the fourth grade PPK elementary school. It is hoped that through the results of the analysis, it can produce better quality PPK-based modules. Can help teachers use and develop different PPK-based modules to apply to students.","PeriodicalId":142919,"journal":{"name":"Pancaran Pendidikan","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127936625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was an experimental research. The research design was pre-experimental utilizing intact-group comparison. The subjects of the research were as many as 44 students consisting of 22 students of class VA and 22 students of class VB. The data was collected from post-test. The research results showed that the post-test average score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The average score of the experimental class was 83.54 while the average score of the control class was 74.23. Due to the difference between the two scores, independent test was administered. From the test it was obtained that tcomputation = 4.195 with significance value of p = 0.000. Because the coefficient was less than 0.05, null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The results indicated that there was a significant influence of mind mapping learning strategy towards students’ learning outcomes.","PeriodicalId":142919,"journal":{"name":"Pancaran Pendidikan","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128771917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
